The Emerson Avenger

The Emerson Avenger is a "memory hole" free blog where censorship is scorned. This blog will "guard the right to know" about any injustices and abuses that corrupt Unitarian Universalism. Posters may speak and argue freely, according to conscience, about any injustices and abuses, or indeed hypocrisy, that they may know about so that the Avenger, in the form of justice and redress, may come surely and swiftly. . . "Slowly, slowly the Avenger comes, but comes surely." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

In 1992 I underwent a profound revelatory experience of God which revealed that the total solar eclipse "Eye of God" is a "Sign in the Heavens" that symbolizes God's divine omniscience. You may read about what Rev. Ray Drennan of the Unitarian Church of Montreal contemptuously dismissed as my "psychotic experience" here: http://revelationisnotsealed.homestead.com - This revelatory religious experience inspired me to propose an inter-religious celebration of Creation that would take place whenever a total solar eclipse took place over our planet. You may read about what Rev. Ray Drennan and other leading members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal falsely and maliciously labeled as a "cult" here: http://creationday.homestead.com - I am now an excommunicated Unitarian whose "alternative spiritual practice" includes publicly exposing and denouncing Unitarian*Universalist injustices, abuses, and hypocrisy. The Emerson Avenger blog will serve that purpose for me and hopefully others will share their concerns here. Dee Miller's term DIM Thinking is used frequently and appropriately on this blog. Reverend Gary Kowalski Accuses Sarah Palin Of Being "Witch-Crazed". . .

Unitarian*Universalist minister Reverend Gary Kowalski currently serves as minister to the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington, Vermont. He is a graduate of Harvard College (B.A. 1977) and the Harvard Divinity School (M.Div. 1982) and it would appear that he is engaging in yet another Unitarian*Universalist witch-hunt against Senator John McCain's running mate Sarah Palin on his Revolutionary Spirits blog in a blog post titled -

Alaska's Witch-Crazed Governor

Here is his "Witch-Crazed" blog post verbatim -

Alaska's Witch-Crazed Governor

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has been following the story of Sarah Palin's connection with a witch-hunting pastor from Kenya. Pastor Muthee is known for identifying sorcerers within his community, accusing a local woman named "Mama Jane" of casting spells, telling fortunes and causing car accidents in the town. Mama Jane was threatened. Her pets were killed. Muthee demanded she either be saved or leave town--and she left!

In 2005 Thomas Muthee visited Sarah Palin's Assembly of God church, where he laid hands on the future Republican Vice Presidential "in the name of Jesus" and asked that she be protected from witchcraft on her road to political success.

What would the founders say about our witch-crazed Alaskan governor? Ben Franklin, born just a few years after the witch trials in Salem, wrote a biting satire of the hysteria that was still common in his time. Nineteen people were hanged in Salem, and two dogs executed (like in Kenya). One of the accused wizards, Giles Corey, was crushed to death under heavy stones for refusing to plead either guilty or not guilty to the offense of witchcraft. If the founders were careful to build into our constitutioin protections against cruel and unusual punishment, the right to confront your accusers in court, trial by jury, and other procedural safeguards, it was because "guilty until proven innocent," torture and trial by ordeal were not so far in the past.

You can listen to an interview on our founder's faith I did this morning with CBC host Anna Maria Tremonti at http://www.cbc.ca/thecurrent/.

end quote

Here is the comment that I just submitted to Reverend Gary Kowalski's "moderated" aka censored 'Revolutionary Spirits' blog -

So how do you get from Alaska governor Sarah Palin being prayed for by a visiting African evangelical pastor, one who may indeed be "witch-crazed" and even a "witch-hunter", to being "witch-crazed" herself?

Please present some solid evidence that supports your assertion that Alaska's Governor, and Republican Presidential candidate John McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin is in fact "Witch-Crazed" or stand ready to be accused of engaging in "guilty until proven innocent" prejudice yourself Rev. Kowalski.

end quote

If Rev. Gary Kowalski fails or refuses to back up his assertion that Alaska governor Sarah Palin is "witch-crazed" I will be obliged accuse him of being something of a U*U "witch-hunter" himself. . .

Update Sunday October 12, 2008 8:10pm

The following follow-up comment was just submitted to Rev. Gary Kowalski's "moderated" 'Revolutionary Spirits' blog -

Any luck Gary?

Do you really think that it is "within the appropriate guidelines of ministerial leadership" for a U*U minister to label anyone as "witch-crazed" without possessing some substantial evidence that clearly indicates that the person being accused of being "witch crazed" is in fact obsessed or "crazed" about "witches" to back up such a brazen public statement? Even if a U*U minister actually possessed* some damning evidence that strongly supported such a brazen allegation, is the term "witch-crazed" really appropriate language to describe the person being accused?

Could not such harshly worded criticism of Sarah Plain be quite appropriately described as being "insulting and defamatory language" Rev. Kowalski?

Would not somewhat more "ministerial" aka "diplomatic" language be rather more "becoming" of a U*U minister?

Do you actually possess any evidence that the Republican candidate for Vice-President of the U.S.A. Sarah Palin is actually "witch-crazed", beyond what little "evidence" you have already presented in this blog post?

Do you understand that U*U email list "moderators" would characterize your harsh criticism of Gov. Sarah Palin, as it is presented here, as a "personal attack" based on "unsubstantiated rumors" if it had been directed at another U*U, especially if that U*U was an U*U minister or UUA administrator?

Do you understand that your ever so white "privilege" of posting to UUA sponsored email lists could be suspended for a week, or a month, or that you could even be permanently banned from posting to all UUA email lists for making far more substantiated allegations about a U*U minister on a UUA sponsored email list?

I look forward to becoming "smarter" and "wiser" and even "more powerful" like Adam Gerhardstein, the Acting Director of the UUA’s Washington Office for Advocacy aka UUWO, by evaluating how you respond to direct criticism and defend your actions in your responses to my direct questions, or lack thereof. . . Hopefully you will be somewhat more forthcoming and forthright in answering my reasonably diplomatic questions about your questionable conduct here than Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was in his highly evasive responses to the rather less than direct "questions and concerns" that UUA President Bill Sinkford shared with him recently during the Fellowship of Reconciliation meetings in New York.

*Pun not exactly intended but it works. . . Dare I ask what possessed you to label Gov. Sarah Palin as "witch-crazed" in such a public manner on your blog Rev. Kowalski?

Yet Another Unitarian*Universalist Rejection Of A Very Reasonable Suggestion. . .

It seems that some very reasonable suggestions are more equal than others in the U*U World. Here is the comment aka very reasonable suggestion that Rev. Kit Ketchum aka Ms. Kitty rejected on the Dilemna of a Part-Time Minister thread on her Ms. Kitty's Saloon and Road Show blog after acknowledging that the initial comment that I had submitted was "a very reasonable suggestion" -

"That means that I work far more hours than the 60 I'm paid for."

May I presume that that is 60 hours per month? If it's per week I would say that you are very overworked. ;-)

For the record most of the suggestions that I make are very reasonable ones Rev. Ketchum. It is quite regrettable that so many U*Us have obstinately ignored my reasonable suggestions and have even unjustly punished me for making them. I seem to recall very reasonably suggesting that a certain intolerant and abusive "Humanist" U*U minister should retract the extremely insulting and more than a little bit defamatory comments that he made about me only to have him obstinately refuse to do so, the UUA's ever so aptly named Ministerial Fellowship Committee pretend that his insulting and defamatory clergy misconduct was "within the appropriate guidelines of ministerial leadership", and ultimately to be thrown out of my U*U "church" for reasonably suggesting that the Board and congregation should do something to persuade their intolerant and abusive minister to retract, and adequately apologize for, his "insulting and defamatory language" or subject him to genuine accountability for continuing to refuse to do so. I am actually chock full of very reasonable suggestions for U*Us that U*Us prefer to ignore and dismiss or even censor and suppress. . .

I dare say that proposing World Day of Conscience is a very reasonable suggestion for how human beings might respond to the "Eye of God" symbolism that is clearly manifested during total solar eclipses, but you and a whole lot of other U*Us don't seem to think that World Day of Conscience is a very good idea. Indeed UUA President Bill Sinkford ignored and dismissed my invitation to participate in World Day of Conscience to say nothing of some of my other very reasonable suggestions arising from what he once referred to as my "obviously deep concerns". I won't even mention what that unmentionable minister, and other intolerant and abusive Atheist Supremacist "Humanist" U*Us, thought about my original suggestion for how human beings might respond to the profound symbolism of total solar eclipses with an inter-religious celebration of Creation.

I find it most regrettable that U*Us, including U*U clergy and UUA administrators, have repeatedly ignored or rejected most of my very reasonable suggestions. I mean I thought that it was a very reasonable suggestion to propose that Rev. Diane Rollert should enter into dialogue with me in order to try to resolve our little conflict and she responded to that reasonable suggestion by seeking a restraining order against me that only serves to extend our little war of words by a few more years. . . I actually have quite a number of very reasonable suggestions that could significantly benefit the U*U World that I have held back from suggesting as a result of the state of conflict that we are in, and I will not be making those very reasonable suggestions until U*Us in positions of responsibility at the UUA and a certain unmentionable U*U "church" start responding to my existing very reasonable suggestions in a reasonable manner.

An Important Announcement From The Emerson Avenger

The Board of Trustees of the Canadian Unitarian Council has announced that it has accepted with relief Mary Bennett’s resignation as Executive Director, effective September 17, 2008. The Emerson Avenger is deeply grateful to Mary for her defection over these six years of the CU*UC’s renaming and ridiculosity. She has built a lasting legacy*, and we wish her all the very best as she moves on to new opportunities to sabotage the corporate identities of tiny, declining, fringe religions.

This Unitarian Pirate Went Down With His Blog. . . R.I.P. Rev. Jack Ditch

The Chalice & Crossbones flies no more. . .

Since certain U*U bloggers such as Cap'n Crankypants, The Socinian, and the notorious female U*U pirate Peacebang, were gleefully participating in International Talk Like A Pirate Day today I was reminded about the 'Pirates Of The Unitarians' blog of Cap'n Jack aka Rev. Jack Ditch. Although I knew that U*U pirate Cap'n Jack had become more than a little bit disillusioned by U*Uism, and his 'Pirates Of The Unitarians' blog had been becalmed for a while, I decided to go have a peek and see if it was still dead in the water. Lo and behold Cap'n Jack seems to have scuttled his 'Pirates Of The Unitarians' blog, unless it was blown out of the water by a U*U Ship Of Fools or something, and it has has gone to the Davy Jones' Locker of the internet. There were just a few pieces of flotsam and jetsam still floating about in Google cache and uupdates.net where the proud ship 'Pirates of the Unitarians' had been. God knows that the U*U Jihad Navy had nothing to do with the sinking of Cap'n Jack's ship.

I could not help but notice that before going down with his XU*U blog Rev. Jack Ditch had changed the text of the main page to say -

Your Favorite Church Sucks.

Famous Unitarian last words?

And so it goes. . .

Has U*U Mom Ever Heard Of Gangsta Rap?

In yet another spectacular outbreak of U*U foot-in-mouth disease
the ever so white, ever so privileged, and ever so ultra-naïve, to say nothing of ultra-maroon. . . WASU*U blogger U*U Mom asks -

"Have you ever heard a person of color brag about being a gun enthusiast? What would people think?"

What *would* people think?

ROTFLMU*UO!

That was just *too* easy.

Rev. James Ishmael Ford And The Muddled Way Of Unitarian*Universalism. . .

The Emerson Avenger once again monkey's with the mind of U*U minister Rev. James Ishmael Ford on his Monkey Mind blog. . .
Rev. James Ishmael Ford is numbered amongst those DIM Thinking "hear no evil, see no evil" U*U ministers who consistently censor and suppress my critical comments that expose and denounce U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy which I submit to their blogs from time to time. Today he posted a thread titled The Middle Way of Unitarian Universalism. Here is the critical comment that I submitted minutes ago that almost certainly will not be posted on Rev. Ford's "moderated" aka censored Monkey Mind blog -

"We shore up each other’s weaknesses, and we encourage each other’s strengths."

Many of the U*Us I know, including you and rather too many other U*U clergy Rev. Ford, *cover up* each other's weaknesses. Indeed the UUA's very aptly named Ministerial *Fellowship* Committee even effectively encourages the "weaknesses" of transgressive U*U ministers.

end quote

Meditate on this Rev. Ford. . .

So, as an example, one U*U minister is good at anti-religious bigotry. U*Us encourage it, provide opportunities to deepen it, and to share it with others. . .

And that is but one single example of how Unitarian*Universalists aka U*Us encourage anti-religious bigotry, provide opportunities to deepen it, and even to very publicly share it with others. There are many more examples of U*U anti-religious intolerance and bigotry available for me to use to make an example of the U*U World James. It is most regrettable that you and other outrageously hypocritical U*U clergy prefer to censor and suppress (aka "cover-up and hide") my legitimate criticism of U*U anti-religious intolerance and bigotry and other U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy rather than help to ensure that my grievances are responsibly addressed and adequately redressed. Still. . . I suppose that I should thank you and all those other DIM Thinking U*Us who encourage me to be an activist against U*U anti-religious bigotry and other U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy, provide opportunities to deepen my activism, and even unwittingly help me to share it with others.

OMG! Mean U*Us DO Suck U*U. . .

Herewith The Emerson Avenger's much awaited parody of U*U
Rev. Cynthia P. Cain's insulting nasty sniping at Republicans. . .

And I just heard from a whole bunch of really mean people.

Unitarian*Universalists aka U*Us.

I can not believe that woman (yes, I said that woman) stood up there and trash-mouthed Robin Edgar* after he stuck up for her when
U*U anti-religious bigots attacked her Christian religious beliefs.

I can not believe U*Us are still selling this line about "standing on the side of love"... using bullshit to sell their agenda. Pretending U*Us can go along losing more credibility indefinitely. . . Acting as if the U*U World is so holier than thou, not just the "best" religion but "the religion of our time."

And U*U COP! Egads... he sounded (and looked...) like a facist (sic).

Back to Rev. Victoria Weinstein. I would like to like something about her, but I don't. She's very, very nasty and she is loved for it, because she is charming (in a phony way) and attractive (in a gross beauty-tips way). I was horrified by her "sodomy fantasy" but now
I am repelled by her ugly U*U soul.

And, most surreal of all... these people really believe they are the Unitarian*Universalists!

Robin Edgar just said it... sarcasm, nasty sniping, ridicule & insult.

And U*Us will eat it up.

That's what makes me sad.

U*Us have been down this road before. U*Us have a queasy feeling, and U*Us can't sleep.

* Peacebang aka Rev. Victoria Weinstein "memory-holed" her comment that "trash-mouthed" me by labeling me as a "hostile crazy" in this blog post.

How U*U Rev. Cynthia P. Cain Stands On The Side Of Love. . .

Didn't some U*U blogger say "our reality gets harder to parody every day" just the other day?

Straight from the proverbial horse's U*U, or something like that. . .

OMG! Mean people DO suck.

And I just heard from a whole bunch of really mean people.

Republicans.

I can not believe that woman (yes, I said that woman) stood up there and trash-mouthed Barack Obama after he stuck up for her when people attacked her pregnant daughter.

I can not believe they are still selling this line about keeping America safe... using fear to sell their agenda. Pretending we can go along finding more oil indefinitely. Acting as if America is so holier than thou, not just the "best" country.. but the only country.

And Mitt Romney! Egads.. he sounded like a facist.

Back to Sarah Palin. I would like to like something about her, but I don't. She's very, very nasty and she will be loved for it, because she is charming (in a phony way) and attractive (in a creepy beauty-queen way). I was horrified by her politics but now I am repelled by her ugly soul.

And, most surreal of all... these people really believe they are the Christians!

Rachel Maddow just said it... sarcasm, nasty sniping, ridicule & insult. And people will eat it up.

That's what makes me sad. We've been down this road before. I have a queasy feeling, and I can't sleep.

The above completely uncensored*, completely intact, and completely unaltered U*U clergy blog post was brought to U*Us
U*U World-wide (to say nothing of real people, real-world-wide. . .) courtesy** of The Ever So Reverend Cynthia P. Cain, Minister of the Unitarian*Universalist Church of Lexington KY***

A Classic The Emerson Avenger "Eat-Your-Words Diet" Parody of this U*U blog post will follow shortly. Not that The Ever So Reverend Cynthia P. Cain's words don't effectively constitute U*U self-parody.

Personally I can sleep on this, and probably should. . .

For the broken U*U record, here is the waggish comment that I submitted to The Ever So Reverend Cynthia P. Cain's Isten Aldjon, Y'all blog in response to this new outbreak of U*U foot-in-mouth disease -

Monica Lewinsky trash-mouthed Barack Obama?!!

It is unlikely to see that light of day however, since The Ever So Reverend Cynthia P. Cain will probably ever so courageously "stand on the side of love" and characterize it as an "inappropriate comment" or dastardly "personal attack" on Bill Clinton or something like that. . .

* Presumably completely un-self-censored too, but with U*U foot-in-mouth disease you just never know. . . Who knows what "sarcasm, nasty sniping, ridicule & insult" The Ever So Reverend Cynthia P. Cain held back?

** A figure of speech

Rev. Victoria Weinstein aka Peacebang Is Now On The Eat-Your-Own-Words Diet. . .

Chow down on your own most ironic words Rev. Weinstein -

The words U*Us use matter. They are remembered. If U*Us are so naive as to think that “Peacebang” or other U*U “religious leaders” can get away with anything off-the-cuff at such a memorable moment, again, have fun in your U*U fantasy bubble. The words U*U leaders use are thrown back in U*U faces when it comes time to make their hypocrisy evident. This isn’t about U*Us and U*U personal preferences and imperious dismissals and hyperboles (”if she’s pregnant, she isn’t a child.” PUH-leese, yourself Peacebang), it’s about how U*U politics work. . .

Rev. Victoria Weinstein aka Peacebang Sounds Like A Hypocrite Right Now. . .

Well it looks like Rev. Victoria Weinstein aka Peacebang really went and put her foot in it again and, as a result of her hypocritical U*U BS, the U*U fold is suffering from yet another outbreak of U*U foot-in-mouth disease that needs to be quarantined. . .

Here are the comments that I submitted to this hypocritical Peacebang blog post titled If She’s Pregnant, She’s Not a Child.

I fully expect Rev. Victoria Weinstein to promptly "memory hole" my comments ASAP after she reads them -

  1. Let’s see now Rev. Weinstein. . .

If your convicted rapist parishioner Richard Buell had managed to impregnate the preteen girls (dare I say children?) that he was convicted of forcibly raping, one of whom was reported to be “a female family member”. . . and would have been “between 6 and 10 years of age” at the time of the “incident”, they would no longer be children?

    Who knows? Perhaps you’re right. . .

Who the hell are you to tell Senator Joe Biden, or anybody else, to “be careful of our rhetoric“?!

Comment by The Emerson Avengah — September 2, 2008 #

  2. “There’s a consistency issue here with serious implications.”

    No kidding. . .

Comment by The Emerson Avengah — September 2, 2008 #

  3. “I just can’t help but think that if Biden starts using the rhetoric of “child” in referring to Bristol Palin, he’s going to sound like a hypocrite in the near future”

Well I guess that sure beats sounding like a hypocrite right now doesn’t it Rev. Weinstein? ;-)

Yet Another Unitarian*Universalist Video Series On YouTube aka U*UTube

Rev. Daniel Harper of First Unitarian in New Bedford, aka Yet Another Unitarian*Universalist, aka Mr. Crankypants, seems to believe that Unitarian*Universalist U*Us need to be investing in "new media" like online videos and cable TV rather than wasting loads of money on publishing "big ads in dead tree publications like Time magazine" to say nothing of the New York Times. . . According to Rev. Dan Harper, "the conservative evangelical Christians seem to be well ahead of religious liberals in their use of new media." He then asks, "Won’t some nice liberal religious philanthropist step forward to fund a Unitarian Universalist online video series that’s also shown on cable TV?" Being both a U*U and a Web geek, Rev. Daniel Harper declares that he, "would love to be able to say to my friends, Hey check out the cool online video series that just happens to be based on UU values."

Hey Mr. Crankypants check out this cool online video series that just happens to be based on Unitarian*Universalist U*Us making a total mockery of their claimed values. . .

WATCH THE CHURCH VISITORS SEE PICKET SIGNS PROTESTING AGAINST U*U EVIL, HEAR ABOUT U*U EVIL FROM THE PROTESTER, AND THEN SPEAK UP ABOUT U*U EVIL.

WATCH A U*U "CITIZENS' POLICE OFFICER" AKA U*U COP TOSS U*U "VALUES" AKA U*U PRINCIPLES AND IDEALS INTO THE STREET. . .

THIS IS REALITY TV FOR U*Us

U*UTUBE CHANNEL ROBINEDGAR EVERY DAY, EVERY NIGHT, FROM 8.00AM TO 8.00PM, IN WHATEVER TIME ZONE YOU HAPPEN TO LIVE IN, IN THE WHOLE WIDE U*U WORLD.
TO SAY NOTHING OF THE REAL WORLD. . .

watch online at: http://www.youtube.com/RobinEdgar

Maybe I should work on getting some of my U*UTube "reality TV" video series shown on cable TV, to say nothing of non-cable news TV. Can't say that I have tried all that hard yet.

For the record Mr. Crankypants, all of that U*UTube viral video was shot on an "obsolete" Canon PowerShot A70 3.2 mega pixels compact digital camera that I picked up on eBay for a whopping $36.00 U.S. (not including shipping). I do believe that the total investment of well under $150 U.S. including 4 AA batteries and a Sandisk Ultra II CompactFlash memory card was well worth it. Don't you?

Here is the parody MasterCard ad version -

Used Canon PowerShot A70 digital camera won on eBay - $36.00

U.S.P.S. Priority Mail shipping - $15.00

Four NiMH rechargeable AA batteries with charger - $29.99

One SanDisk Ultra II 2 GB Compact Flash memory card - $69.99

U*UTube viral video of U*U COP and other outrageously hypocritical Unitarian*Universalist U*Us making a total mockery of U*U values -

Priceless. . .

Come to think of it Mr. Crankypants, isn't The Emerson Avenger blog "new media"? The last time I checked it hasn't cost me a dime, nor has my YouTube account for that matter. So why do you believe that U*Us need "some nice liberal religious philanthropist step forward to fund a Unitarian Universalist online video series" when anyone with a few hundred dollars in his pocket (or less. . .) can make very good use of "new media"? Is it possibly because you want "some nice liberal religious philanthropist" to pay you and your friends big bucks to produce this U*U online video series?

For the record here is the brief comment that I submitted to Rev. Daniel Harper's "moderated" aka censored Yet Another Unitarian*Universalist blog -

The Emerson Avengah Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation.

Hey check out the cool online video series that just happens to be based on UU values. . . ;-)

http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=RobinEdgar&p=v

Don't expect to see the above comment posted to the Yet Another Unitarian*Universalist blog any time soon since Mr. Crankypants aka Rev. Daniel Harper is amongst those U*U ministers who consistently censor and suppress my critical comments submitted to their blog.
