Unitarian*Universalists aka U*Us Have A History Of Sex Abuse
But don't take my word for it U*Us. . .
Take the word of Rev. Daniel Harper as written in this Yet Another Unitarian Universalist blog post from just over two years ago.
"Like the Southern Baptists, we Unitarian Universalists (UUs) have a history of sex abuse. (Nor are we alone: nearly every American institution, from schools to sports to health care to entertainment, has its own history of abuse.) I’ve mostly heard allegations about male UU ministers and lay leaders targeting women over the age of 18. But I’ve also heard allegations about powerful men targeting legal minors."
I'm not quite sure why Rev. Daniel Harper aka Rev. Dan Harper aka Rev. Crankypants speaks about "allegations" he has "heard" about when Rev. Harper is VERY well positioned to know with 100% certainty that certain Unitarian Universalist ministers, and Unitarian Universalist lay leaders of various kinds, including UUA Religious Educators and Unitarian Universalist camp counselors, have not only been credibly accused of what the UUA's Canadian attorney has described as "such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape", but some U*Us have even been charged, tried, and convicted of "such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape", or other sex crimes involving "legal minors" aka children.
Rev. Harper goes on to say, "If a local (Unitarian Universalist) congregation wants to hire a minister who’s known to have a history of abuse, there’s no way to stop them."
And he's right. . .
So the following Big Fat U*U Question arises:
How many local Unitarian Universalist congregations actually have hired a minister, to say nothing of a lay leader of one kind or another. . . who’s known to have a history of sexual abuse in general, and sexual abuse of children in particular?
