The Emerson Avenger

The Emerson Avenger is a "memory hole" free blog where censorship is scorned. This blog will "guard the right to know" about any injustices and abuses that corrupt Unitarian Universalism. Posters may speak and argue freely, according to conscience, about any injustices and abuses, or indeed hypocrisy, that they may know about so that the Avenger, in the form of justice and redress, may come surely and swiftly. . . "Slowly, slowly the Avenger comes, but comes surely." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

In 1992 I underwent a profound revelatory experience of God which revealed that the total solar eclipse "Eye of God" is a "Sign in the Heavens" that symbolizes God's divine omniscience. You may read about what Rev. Ray Drennan of the Unitarian Church of Montreal contemptuously dismissed as my "psychotic experience" here: - This revelatory religious experience inspired me to propose an inter-religious celebration of Creation that would take place whenever a total solar eclipse took place over our planet. You may read about what Rev. Ray Drennan and other leading members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal falsely and maliciously labeled as a "cult" here: - I am now an excommunicated Unitarian whose "alternative spiritual practice" includes publicly exposing and denouncing Unitarian*Universalist injustices, abuses, and hypocrisy. The Emerson Avenger blog will serve that purpose for me and hopefully others will share their concerns here. Dee Miller's term DIM Thinking is used frequently and appropriately on this blog. Rev. Renee Ruchotzke UUA Leadership Development Consultant Of The UUA's Central East Regional Group (CERG) Makes Apple Crumble Out Of U*U "Bad Apples". . .

In this plagU*Urized parody version of Central East Regional Group (CERG) UUA Leadership Development Consultant Rev. Renee Ruchotzke's Growing Vital Leaders blog post entitled:

'One Bad Apple CAN Spoil the Whole Bunch

The 1970’s heart-throb boy band The Osmonds provided a disservice with their ear-worm hit song “One Bad Apple.

They sang,

“One bad apple don’t spoil the whole bunch, girls,
Oh, I don’t care what they say, I don’t care what U*Us say now”

when it fact it really can and will, especially in dysfunctional U*U "churches", and even at UUA HQ in Boston.

By saying “bad apples” I’m referring to behaviors of people in The U*U Movement that can act like the ethylene that rotting fruit emits that will eventually rot the fruit nearby. But instead of causing rot, the human version of the bad apple breaks the covenants of our U*U "religious community".

Let me be clear that it’s behaviors that I am talking about, not the "less than perfect" U*U people themselves. As creatures of free will, we U*Us can make bad choices about our behavior. As communities, we member congregations in the "tiny, declining, fringe religion" known as The U*U Movement can set standards of behavior to encourage people to be their best selves instead of their worst selves, at least for a few hours while attending Sunday services at U*U "churches".

As I’ve heard many U*Us express,

“Going to church helps to remind ourselves that the so-called "U*U world" revolves around Peacebang and other abusive U*U "pastors".”

Tiny, declining, fringe religions that are unable to grow, or that are declining in numbers and enthU*Usiasm often have ignored the Big Fat U*U Bad Apples among their midst and yet they are puzzled about why visitors don’t return or why new members, to say nothing of long time members, drift away without saying why they think their U*U "church" sucks at practicing what U*Uism preaches.  (Even if they did, it’s a rare U*U minister or UUA leader who would take such feedback to heart.)

I am passionate about this because–every week–someone walks through the doors of a U*U congregation who seeks the saving message of liberal religion (you are not inherently sinful like Peacebang is!) and the saving community of U*U "covenants" (we pledge to support and encourage abusive U*U clergy and incompetent and corrupt UUA leadership to impede Unitarian Universalism's growth). It breaks my heart when anyone is repelled from “the bunch” of unhealthy, corpse-cold Unitarians in a U*U "church" by the “bad apple” of an individual U*U minister or two.

Why do we tolerate behaviors in that repel not just visitors but healthy and contributing members? I think it’s because our "less than perfect" UUA leaders, U*U clergy, and FAR too many ordinary U*Us exhibit a failure of nerve to stand up to such destructive behaviors of their fellow U*Us and sometimes even enable them with excuses or explanations like:

“Oh, that’s just Peacebang.  She’s always been like that.  Lots of U*Us are buggers.  Peacebang just doesn’t know when to stop.”

“We know that The Emerson Avenger is always criticizing Peacebang, and the UUA Board's past and ongoing complicity in her verbally and psychologically abusive clergy misconduct that is clearly "conduct unbecoming a minister", but Peacebang aka Rev. Dr. Victoria Weinstein IS one of our major "pastors".  We wouldn’t want to risk losing face.”

“We’re the only religious community that will put up with Peacebang's abusive “bad apple” behavior. She may have numerous incidents of aggressive behavior, but they’ve never happened while she's delivering a sermon at First Parish Norwell Unitarian Church or the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn, so it’s none of the UUA's business.”

“It’s too bad that we’ve haven't gone through eight administrators in five years because of Scott pointing our every little mistake. Scott used to be our volunteer Religious Educator and he was not a member of one of our founding families.  They have too much power for the board of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Springfield MO to do anything about the Big Fat U*U "Mistakes" Scott identifies and seeks to correct.”

“Letting someone like Robin Edgar talk for 2 minutes during Joys and Sorrows at the First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa shows newcomers & long time members in The U*U Movement that we U*Us are welcoming and supportive of the Rev. Dr. Peter "Beyond Belief" Morales' UUA administration's immoral, unethical, borderline criminal, and yes. . . #BatShitCrazy misuse of Canada's blasphemy law in Bill Cosby style legal bullying that seeks to cover-up and deny "such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape" committed by "certain Unitarian Universalist ministers", to say nothing of certain U*U "Religious Educators".”

“A lot of our older members, to say nothing of our fundamentalist Atheist UUA ministers like Rev. Ray Drennan and Rev. Dr. Peter "Beyond Belief" Morales, had bad experiences with Christian churches in their childhoods and*or subsequent careers as ordained Christian clergy.  People should understand that when these U*U "pastors" condemn Judaism, Christianity, Islam and other "obsolete religions" they mean ALL belief in God.”

“If people aren’t sticking around after a few bad experiences with some of our crankier members, or our 400+ abusive UUA ministers, it just means that they weren’t all *that* committed to our dysfunctional U*U "church" and*or "tiny, declining, fringe religion" in the first place.”

If you currently have a similar “bad apple” shituation in your U*U congregation, or at UUA HQ in Boston for *that* matter, get ready to despair!  There are many resources to help your U*U leadership team (and it takes a Big Fat U*U Team!) to cover-up and deny the “bad apple” behaviors of abusive U*U clergy and incompetent and corrupt UUA leadership:
  • Call your Regional Staff.  They will be good partners in helping your abusive U*U minister and*or dysfunctional U*U "church" figure out how to cover-up and deny their “bad apple” behaviors and expel you from their "church".
  • Create and enforce a Disruptive Behavior Policy to suppress legitimate complaints about abusive “bad apple” U*U clergy or other U*U “bad apples” under threat of expulsion from the "church".
-Rev. Renee Ruchotzke, Congregational Life Consultant, Central East Region.

About the Author
Leadership Development Consultant, Central East Regional Group (CERG) of the UUA. I have a vision of Unitarian Universalist congregations being led by thousands of perverse, spiritually immature and uncompassionate people ready and willing to enable the “bad apple” behaviors of the “bad apples” in our “tiny, declining, fringe religion”.  I believe U*U clergy abuse cover-up and denial works best when shared between lay and professional leaders.

Rev. Ellen Cooper-Davis Viciously Kicks UUA President Peter "Beyond Belief" Morales And UUA Moderator Jim "See NO Evil" Key In Their Big Fat U*U Balls. . .

In this "annotated", and minimally altered for the purpose of parody, version of Rev. Ellen Cooper-Davis's words as quoted in this blog post titled 'Ask A Unitarian Universalist'

"By far, the most damaging misrepresentation of Unitarian Universalism is one that is perpetuated both from outside our U*U faith, as well as from some of our own people like UUA President Rev. Dr. Peter "Beyond Belief" Morales & UUA Moderator Jim Key to name but two such U*Us.

It is said that we are allowed to believe anything we want.

Not so, my friends.

Unitarian Universalism, as a liberal religion, sits in a dynamic tension between our historical roots and traditions, and the freshness and innovation of ongoing revelation. That means we are neither free to completely divorce ourselves from our history, but nor are we to ignore new insights afforded by science, experience or the wisdom of other peoples and traditions. As our very close cousins, the United Church of Christ puts it so eloquently: God is still speaking.

Because of that dynamic tension, and because of our insistence that reason be applied to faith as it is to other things in the world, we are not free to simply make up our own mythology and call it truth. Also, our responsibilities toward justice-making make it impossible to believe certain things."

Note: I am having technical difficulties uploading photos. They will hopefully be successfully uploaded later.

Gail Forsyth-Vail UUA Adult Programs Director And UUA Misuse Of Blasphemy Law To Hide UU Pedophilia & Rape - What's The Connection?

How about this little Tweet of mine which responds to this little Tweet of @UUA about Gail Forsyth-Vail, Director of Adult Programs, giving to Friends of the UUA through staff giving?

How does misuse of to hide & rape represent Gail Forsyth-Vail's values?

Rev. Alison Miller And UUA President Peter Morales' #BatShitCrazy Misuse Of Canada's Blasphemy Law In UUA Clergy Abuse Cover Up Legal Bullying - What's The Connection?

How about these little Tweets of mine that I have directly or indirectly Tweeted to Morristown Unitarian (Universalist) Fellowship minister Rev. Alison Miller's @RevAlisonMiller Twitter account in the wake of the UUA Presidential Search Committee's announcement that Rev. Alison Miller is one of two female Unitarian Universalist ministers who have been carefully pre-selected as "vetted" official @UUA nominees for UUA President to replace FAILed UUA President Rev. Dr. Peter "Beyond Belief" Morales just for starters?

The Unitarian Universalist Association aka UUA Loves It When U.S. President Barack Obama Quotes Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Quoting Famous Unitarian Theodore Parker On "The Arc Of Justice"

And so do I. . .

Just saying. . .

In this little Tweet of mine. :-)

Does UUA Presidential Candidate Rev. Sue Phillips Have The Integrity And Insight Required To Repudiate The UUA's Misuse Of Blasphemy Law In Clergy Abuse Cover Up Legal Bullying?

Rev. Sue Phillips is one of the two candidates for UUA President selected by the UUA's Presidential Search Committee. Her Phillips For President vaunts Rev. Sue Phillips' "integrity and insight", and her ability to "cut through bureaucracy to create innovative solutions".

So the question is. . .

Does candidate for the next President of the UUA, Rev. Sue Phillips, actually have the moral and ethical integrity that IS required to responsibly repudiate the Rev. Dr. Peter "Beyond Belief" Morales' UUA administration's immoral, unethical, borderline criminal, and yes. . . #BatShitCrazy misuse of Canada's blasphemy law in Bill Cosby style legal bullying that is obviously intended to cover-up and hide "such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape" committed by "certain Unitarian Universalist ministers"?

Will Candidate For UUA President Rev. Alison Miller Risk Having A Conversation With Yours Truly About UUA Clergy Abuse Cover Up & Denial?

Just asking. . .

In this little Tweet of mine.

Rev. Alison Miller is one of two Candidate Nominees for UUA President selected by the Unitarian Universalist Association’s Presidential Search Committee.

In this Tweet on her Alison For UUA President campaign ‏ Twitter account Rev. Alison Miller says,

"We must be willing to take risks for the sake of love and for the sake of something greater than our finite lives."

In a meme in that Tweet she says,

I am thus taking Rev. Alison Miller at her word, and formally and publicly asking her to risk joining Yours Truly in an inter-national conversation about the future of the Unitarian Universalist faith in general, and how the Rev. Dr. Peter "Beyond Belief" Morales' UUA administration's immoral, unethical, borderline criminal, and yes. . . #BatShitCrazy misuse of Canada's blasphemy law in Bill Cosby style legal bullying that is obviously intended to cover-up and hide "such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape" committed by "certain Unitarian Universalist ministers" can have a seriously detrimental impact on the future of the "tiny, declining, fringe religion" known as The U*U Movement aka Unitarian Universalism in particular. . .

Religious Freedom Day And Unitarian Universalist Misuse Of Canada's Blasphemy Law To Cover-Up "Such Despicable Crimes As Pedophilia And Rape" Committed By "Certain Unitarian Universalist Ministers" - What's The Connection?

How about this little Tweet of mine which responds to this @UUA Tweet asserting that -

The honors Religious Freedom Awareness Day Jan. 16 by reflecting on the just for starters?

Imagine where we *might* be today *if* immoral, UNethical, borderline criminal, and quite frankly. . . #BatShitCrazy UUA leadership like UUA President Rev. Dr. Peter "Beyond Belief" Morales, UUA Executive *Vice* President Kathleen "Kay" Montgomery, various other implicated UUA leaders, and the UUA's hapless Canadian attorney, Stikeman Elliott Barristers & Solicitors litigation lawyer Maitre Marc-André Coulombe, had actually practiced what the "tiny, declining, fringe religion" known as Unitarian Universalism aka The U*U Movement so insincerely preaches in its Seven Principles by actually engaging in "a free and responsible search for Truth and meaning" *before* falsely accusing me of the archaic criminal act of blasphemous libel on the unfounded aka false aka UNtrue pretext that I am allegedly guilty of making "unfounded and vicious allegations to the effect that ministers of the Association engage in such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape" in this arrogant and aggressive cease and desist demand letter?

The UUA's Tweet about how the UUA will "honor" Religious Freedom Day tomorrow links to the UUA web site's page about UUism's 4th Principle. Here is my "annotated" version of Rev. Paige Getty's word that exposes the outrageous two-faced hypocrisy of ALL UUA leadership who are directly implicated in, or complicit in. . . the UUA's immoral, UNethical, borderline criminal, and yes. . . #BatShitCrazy misuse of Canada's blasphemy law in Bill Cosby style clergy abuse cover-up legal bullying and

“As responsible religious seekers, we recognize that we are privileged to be free, to have resources to pursue life beyond mere survival, to continually search for truth and meaning, to exist beyond bonds of dogma and oppression, and to wrestle freely with truth and meaning as they evolve.
“This privilege calls us not to be isolated and self-centered, believing that our single perspective trumps all others, but rather to be humble, to be open to the great mysteries of truth and meaning that life offers. And those mysteries may speak to us through our own intuition and experience—but also through tradition, community, conflict, nature, and relationships.
“As a faith tradition, Unitarian Universalism makes sacred the right and responsibility to engage in this free and responsible quest as an act of religious devotion. Institutionally, we have left open the questions of what truth and meaning are, acknowledging that mindful people will, in every age, discover new insights.”

Rev. James Ishmael Ford And Unitarian Universalist Misuse Of Canada's Blasphemy Law To Cover-Up U*U Pedophilia And Rape - What's The Connection

How about this questioning comment that I just posted in response to Rev. James Ishmael Ford's Monkey Mind blog post entitled 'An Insatiable Inclination to the Truth: Recalling Thomas Aikenhead, the Last Person to Be Executed in Great Britain for the Crime of Blasphemy'?

So what are your thoughts about *your* religion, i.e. Unitarian Universalism, falsely accusing Yours Truly of the archaic criminal act of blasphemous libel in Bill Cosby style legal bullying that was*is obviously intended to intimidate me into "memory holing" The Emerson Avenger blog posts that tell the well-documented Truth about U*Us who are guilty of committing "such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape."

Just asking. . .

Unfortunately, Rev. James Ishmael Ford has rather rather foolishly blocked me from posting comments to his Monkey Mind blog, so he will probably not see this comment unless I bring it to his attention by other means. Which I just may well do. . .

Rev. Kate Lore's Unitarian Universalist New Year's Day Prayer And Victims Of Pedophilia And Rape Committed By UUA Clergy - What's The Connection?

Rev. Kate Lore, Associate minister of First Unitarian Church of Portland Oregon, is one of the few UU ministers who have what it takes to follow me on Twitter. She also has a MUCH better take on beginning the New Year than most of the U*Us I know who habitually (mis)use New Years Day, to say nothing of Yom Kippur, as an excuse to "make a fresh start" by pretending that they don't need to deal responsibly with the past year's "sins of commission" and "sins of omission".

Rather than trying to sweep the past under the proverbial carpet on New Year's Day, as FAR too many U*Us including U*U clergy and UUA leadership do, Rev. Kate Lore has created a Unitarian Universalist prayer for the New Year which not only explicitly asks what lessons have been learned in the past year, but what these lessons call upon U*Us to DO in the New Year. Rather than promoting self-serving "self-forgiveness", Rev. Lore's New Year's Day prayer actually asks U*Us to reflect upon who they still owe an apology to, or expression of thanks to.

The last time I checked, top-level UUA leadership and U*U clergy still owe apologies not only to Yours Truly, but to ALL victims of ALL forms of U*U clergy abuse, thanks to the brazen bald faced lies that UUA Moderator Jim Key told in the all but completely worthless "institutional apology" to victims of U*U clergy sexual misconduct that he inserted into his first Moderator's Report to a UUA GA on June 27th, 2014.

Let's face it U*Us. . .

In brazenly lying by asserting that,

"There were NO incidents of abuse of children or elders in my investigations."

UUA Moderator Jim Key, and by extension the Unitarian Universalist Association as an institution, not only FAILed to apologize to those persons of inherent worth and dignity who were*are victims of "such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape" committed by "certain Unitarian Universalist ministers", but he and the UUA denied their very existence. . . Any and ALL victims of pedophilia aka child sex abuse committed by "certain Unitarian Universalist ministers" were rendered non-persons by the brazen bald faced lie about U*U clergy sexual abuse of children that *Certified* Risk Management Consultant James C. Key inserted into his "less than honest", and thus worthless, "institutional apology" to victims of U*U clergy sexual misconduct. These persons of  inherent worth and dignity, who were*are victims of the worst forms of U*U clergy sexual misconduct ARE still owed an apology by the UUA. Indeed UUA Moderator Jim Key owes victims of child sex abuse committed by UUA clergy an apology for denying that they even exist. . .

Without further ado, here is my "annotated" version of Rev. Kate Lore's New Year's prayer 'As A New Year Begins'. It will be interesting to see if the UUA still owes victims of "such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape" committed by "certain Unitarian Universalist ministers" an apology when 2017 begins. . .

Great Spirit of Life,

As a new year begins, we turn inward to reflect about the state of our lives:

As we pause from our regular rhythms of rush-rush-rush, we open ourselves to new perspectives and possibilities. We give thanks for these moments and for the wisdom they afford us. May they help bring us together in the sacred dynamics of life so that we—as individuals and as members of this community--mightmreach our full potential.

As we step across this threshold, let this new year be a year of greater awe and gratitude,
Of deeper kindness and acceptance,
And more courageous acts of conviction.
For a kinder, more equitable and sustainable world is not only possible, she is on her way. And in the quietness of this sacred community, we can ever hear her breathing.
