Canada's Simply Embarrassing Blasphemy Law And Unitarian Universalism - What's The Connection?
Without further ado here is the comment that I just submitted in response to the National Post's 'Full Comment Weekend Roundup' with some typos corrected and some hyperlinks added -
Regarding Canada's "simply embarrassing" blasphemy law.
I had, and still have. . . the great honour and privilege of being accused of blasphemous libel by the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations last June for allegedly making "unfounded and vicious allegations to the effect that ministers of the Association engage in such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape."
Of course the key word in all that legalistic bluster is *unfounded*, and the few allegations that I actually have made about Unitarian Universalists engaging in "such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape" are very well founded in fact. The Unitarian Universalists in question were charged with rape, tried for rape, convicted of rape, and incarcerated for the rape of minors. Most ironically, the UU who I described as a "pedophile rapist" because his victims, including "a female family member", were as young as 9 or 10 years old at the times that the rapes were committed was, to the best of my knowledge, not a UU minister at all but an ordinary UU layman. Ergo, prior to receiving the cease and desist demand letter, I had not actually blogged about any pedophilia committed by Unitarian Universalist ministers. This is a clear attempt to misuse and abuse Canada's blasphemy law to silence a critic and cover up and hide online testimony about Unitarian Universalist clergy sexual abuse.

I dare say that it is "simply embarrassing" to The Tiny Declining Fringe Religion™ aka Unitarian Universalism that the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations has not only incredibly foolishly accused me of the archaic crime of blasphemous libel but, more than eight months down the road, still obstinately refuses to responsibly withdraw that bogus criminal accusation against me and properly and publicly apologize to me for having brought it against me in an outrageously hypocritical, shamefully hubristic, and all but completely ineffective misguided attempt at Lance Armstrong legal bullying which seeks to cover up and hide the Truth that *some* "less than perfect" ministers of the Unitarian Universalist Association have engaged in such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape.
