The Emerson Avenger

The Emerson Avenger is a "memory hole" free blog where censorship is scorned. This blog will "guard the right to know" about any injustices and abuses that corrupt Unitarian Universalism. Posters may speak and argue freely, according to conscience, about any injustices and abuses, or indeed hypocrisy, that they may know about so that the Avenger, in the form of justice and redress, may come surely and swiftly. . . "Slowly, slowly the Avenger comes, but comes surely." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

In 1992 I underwent a profound revelatory experience of God which revealed that the total solar eclipse "Eye of God" is a "Sign in the Heavens" that symbolizes God's divine omniscience. You may read about what Rev. Ray Drennan of the Unitarian Church of Montreal contemptuously dismissed as my "psychotic experience" here: - This revelatory religious experience inspired me to propose an inter-religious celebration of Creation that would take place whenever a total solar eclipse took place over our planet. You may read about what Rev. Ray Drennan and other leading members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal falsely and maliciously labeled as a "cult" here: - I am now an excommunicated Unitarian whose "alternative spiritual practice" includes publicly exposing and denouncing Unitarian*Universalist injustices, abuses, and hypocrisy. The Emerson Avenger blog will serve that purpose for me and hopefully others will share their concerns here. Dee Miller's term DIM Thinking is used frequently and appropriately on this blog. The Emerson Avenger Celebrates Mardi Gras!

Apparently some of Rev. Victoria Weinstein's professional colleagues have a bit of a Peacebang blog carnival going on over here.

I guess it's not over until. . .

Blogging Tips For Peacebang Courtesy Of The Emerson Avenger

The following is the full text of a letter to the editor that I sent to the Boston Globe about the puff-piece it did on Peacebang aka Rev. Victoria Weinstein in it's "Sunday paper" -

Dear Editor,

We all know the adage "no news is good news" but there is a flip side to that coin. No news is bad news when newspapers fail, or even refuse, to report on newsworthy events and choose instead to fill their pages with contrived distracting dross. A case in point is the Boston Globe's "Sunday paper" front page puff-piece on U*U minister Rev. Victoria Weinstein and her pseudonymous Peacebang's Beauty Tips For Ministers blog. Did the Boston Globe ever report on the newsworthy fact that one of Rev. Weinstein's aging parishioners at the First Parish Unitarian Church of Norwell was recently convicted of raping preteen girls, one of whom was "a female family member" according to the Norwell Mariner? Perhaps the Boston Globe could get around to belatedly assigning a reporter to do a real hard news story or two, and possibly even a feature article, about not only the rapes, trials, and convictions, but how the whole drama played out in terms of Rev. Weinstein's parish and ministry.

In the Globe's puff-piece Rev. Weinstein is quoted as saying, "Anyone who is in a position of leadership has to consider what image they're projecting, and that goes for clergy too." What kind of image is Rev. Victoria Weinstein projecting when she calls for prayers for the convicted rapist in her church's newsletter while not showing the slightest concern for his victims? What kind of image is Rev. Victoria Weinstein projecting when she stridently criticizes Catholics over clergy sexual abuse on her pseudonymous Peacebang blog, while studiously avoiding the slightest mention of serious problems with clergy sexual misconduct within the Unitarian Universalist religious community itself, and this at a time when one of her very own parishioners had recently been convicted of forcibly raping preteen girls? What kind of image of that "Uncommon Denomination" now known as the U*U religious community is Rev. Weinstein projecting when she publicly airs her sodomy fantasy of South Dakota State Senator Bill Napoli anally impaled on the Statue of Liberty's torch on her now not so anonymous Peacebang blog?

Rev. Weinstein admonishes clergy to, "Remember that you are projecting an image with your choice of clothing and hairstyle." May I suggest that Rev. Weinstein would be very well advised to seriously consider just what kind of image of herself, and her supposedly all-inclusive U*U religious community, she is projecting with her choice of words and blogging style?

More U*U Foot-In-Mouth Disease Courtesy Of U*U Minister Rev. Victoria Weinstein aka Peacebang

The following quote from "Christian" U*U minister Rev. Victoria Weinstein is taken from the recent Boston Globe puff-piece about her PeaceBang's Beauty Tips For Ministers blog.

The Two Faces Of Vicki. . . Rev. Weinstein and Ms. Peacebang

The remarkably two faced "Christian" U*U minister Rev. Victoria Weinstein, aka Peacebang, finally made the Sunday papers, well one of them anyway. . . Rev. Weinstein is apparently trying to use her proverbial 15 minutes of fame to shill for the whole wide U*U religious community. Here is my "annotated" version of the hypocritical spiel that Rev. Victoria Weinstein posted on her "PeaceBang's Beauty Tips For Ministers " blog today -

In all seriousness, and as myself, I warmly invite you to consider a Unitarian Universalist congregation if you are seeking a spiritual home. We are a free faith tradition and gather in covenanted community to support one another in the search for truth and meaning. Whatever your religious background -- or if you have none at all -- you are welcome to join with us in the work of cultivating reverence, ministering to one another, engaging in the work of social justice and ethical commitment. We are a theologically diverse people and abide with one another in the spirit of love -- cherishing our doubts and differences and affirming the inherent worth and dignity of every person.

In the words of one of our spiritual forebears, "We need not think alike to love alike."

Here is a revealing "snippet" from her Peacebang blog about why Rev. Weinstein does her blogging anonymously -

Blogging anonymously assures that no one mistakes PeaceBang's opinions with her specific church.

Rev. Victoria Weinstein's Sodomy Fantasy Ends Up In The U*U "Memory Hole". . .

Well what do you know. . . Although Rev. Victoria Weinstein's definitely verbally abusive and insulting, if not outright defamatory, "sodomy fantasy" that portrayed South Dakota state Bill Napoli "anally impaled on the Statue of Liberty's torch" was effectively endorsed by the UUA's department of Congregational Services under the dubious leadership of Rev. Tracey Robinson-Harris, and additionally condoned by Rev. Beth Miller, the executive secretary of the UUA's Ministerial Fellowship Committee, it would now appear that it has been relegated to the proverbial U*U "memory hole". I can't help but wonder just what lies behind Rev. Victoria Weinstein's recent decision to "memory hole" her insulting and defamatory post about senator Napoli. After all, both Rev. Dr. Tracey Robinson-Harris and Rev. Beth Miller had effectively rubber-stamped Rev. Weinstein's insulting and defamatory language directed at senator Bill Napoli, myself and various other people in their obviously negligent and effectively complicit responses to the formal clergy misconduct complaint that I brought against Rev. Victoria Weinstein so that she might face some uncountability for her unbecoming conduct.

More coming. . .

In rereading this post to check for spelling mistakes, typos and HTML errors etc. I notice that I wote "uncountability" instead of "accountability" above. I will leave that typo intact and let readers decide if it is just a simple typo or a Freudian slip. In that the UUA has now repeatedly and quite obstinately refused to subject its verbally and psychologically abusive clergy to the slightest accountability for their insulting and defamatory language, to say nothing of the lack of genuine accountability for the various U*U ministers who are guilty of clergy sexual misconduct. . . I would say that there is a good chance that this misspelling of the word 'accountability' was as much a Freudian slip as a typographical error. God knows that I do know how to spell accountability just as God also knows that the UUA, and the greater U*U "religious community", apparently do not know the meaning of the word 'accountability'.

I did bring my unbecoming conduct complaint against Rev. Victoria Weinstein to the attention of the UUA's Board of Trustees in January and was informed that UUA Trustees had passed the proverbial buck back to "appropriate UUA staff" so it is within possibility that some UUA Trustees shared their concerns (as it were) with Rev. Dr. Tracey Robinson-Harris and Rev. Beth Miller. On the other hand Rev. Weinstein's insulting and defamatory "sodomy fantasy" about senator Napoli had not yet been "memory holed" on February 9th when I decided to virtually "impale" Rev. Dr. Tracey Robinson-Harris on the very same "hot seat" that her pal Peacebang had so ungraciously provided for senator Napoli as an object lesson in internet etiquette. The philosophy behind that "object lesson" was "do unto U*Us as they do unto others" in the hope that outrageously hypocritical U*Us like Rev. Dr. Tracey Robinson-Harris and Rev. Beth Miller et al might come to their senses and realize just how offensive Rev. Victoria Weinstein's words were and just how badly her unbecoming conduct reflects on the whole U*U "religious community". So just how does it feel Rev. Robinson-Harris sitting there virtually anally impaled on the Statue of Liberty's torch? Please let me know some time. . . I have no intention of "memory holing" my post that clearly exposes what two-faced hypocrite you are.

A Hard Nut To Crack. . . More Foot-In-Mouth Disease Courtesy Of Montreal U*Us

Well nothing worth reporting happened when I did my usual protest against U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy in front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal yesterday however something did happen Saturday night that is worth a few words. I have begun to make a point of protesting at special events that are open to the general public such as concerts etc. since this significantly increases the number of non-U*Us who become aware of my "alternative spiritual practice". On Saturday night the first concert of John Inder's 'Jazz for Justice' benefit concert series took place featuring the Susie Arioli band. Since John Inder is one of those intolerant and abusive Montreal U*Us who has had the gall to label Creation Day as a "cult" to my face, as well as being one of those leading Montreal U*Us (a former President of the UCM Board) who are most directly responsible for the unjust, inequitable and uncompassionate punitive expulsions that I have been subjected to for daring to try to protect my reputation from such intolerant and abusive "insulting and defamatory language" aka "hate speech", I made sure to protest in front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal on Saturday night.

There was a very good turn-out of both Montreal U*Us and plenty of non-U*Us as I thought might be the case. A goodly number of concerts at the Unitarian Church of Montreal are quite poorly attended and often they are attended mainly by existing "church" members but, no doubt because Susie Arioli is a well known Montreal musician and the fact that it was a benefit concert, public attendance was significantly increased. A lot of non-U*Us were perplexed by my protest and several stopped to ask what it was about. Since people were on their way to the concert I kept my explanations brief and to the point unless they asked for more information. To those people who asked about my protest I explained that I was protesting against the intolerance and bigotry of Montreal Unitarians. I told them that John Inder, and other leading members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal such as Rev. Ray Drennan and Franke Greene, had falsely and maliciously labeled an inter-religious event that I had organized as a "cult". As I have stated in other posts I have been displaying one picket sign slogan that says -

in tandem with a slogan asking

since the beginning of the new "church year" in September 2006.

A couple of twenty something young men stopped and read most of my picket sign slogans quite intently and then asked me what my protest was about. I explained briefly, as per the above description, and spoke of the "intolerance and bigotry" that I was protesting against. Very soon after I spoke to the two men a leading female member of the Unitarian Church of Montreal approached them and whispered something to them as I was not all that far from them. As I passed by them I said, "May I ask what was said to you?" One of the young men responded by saying that the woman had told them to just ignore me. I responded to that by saying, "I thought that she might have said that I was some kind of nutcase." The young man, who seemed a little bit uncomfortable and/or somewhat embarrassed said, "Well that too. . ." Not being the least bit surprised by his response I just dryly stated, "Well that's part of the intolerance and bigotry that I am protesting against."

That's all for now. I really shouldn't need to say much more than that but I may say a bit more later anyway even if it will mainly be a case of once again stating the obvious to people of intelligence and conscience.

Rev. Dr. Tracey Robinson-Harris Gets "Peacebanged" By Her Colleague Rev. Victoria Weinstein

As may be quite readily determined by reading my email exchange with Rev. Dr. Tracey Robinson-Harris, the Executive Director of Congregational Services for the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations aka the UUA, she has effectively condoned the insulting and defamatory language that self-described "Christian" U*U minister Rev. Victoria Weinstein of the First Parish Unitarian Church of Norwell has directed at me (self-censored) and various other people, including South Dakota state senator Bill Napoli, on her pseudonymous Peacebang blog. Rev. Victoria Weinstein's online conduct is obviously quite unbecoming a minister of any denomination but, according to Rev. Tracey Robinson-Harris and indeed Rev. Beth Miller who is the Executive Secretary of the UUA's Ministerial Fellowship Committee, it is apparently quite acceptable conduct for a U*U minister.

I can't help but wonder if Rev. Tracey Robinson-Harris and/or Rev. Beth Miller would so enthusiastically uphold Rev. Victoria Weinstein's "right" to make a total mockery of both the letter and the spirit of the UUMA's guidelines for the conduct of ministry if they or other U*U ministers or UUA leaders were the target of Peacebang's insulting and defamatory verbally abusive attacks. There's an easy way to find out. . . Let's see how comfortable Rev. Dr. Tracey Robinson-Harris feels sitting in the rather less than comfortable perch that Rev. Victoria Weinstein provided for state senator Bill Napoli. I seem to recall a saying about what's good for the gander is good for the goose or something like that. . .

Here's the parting shot of oh so "Christian" U*U minister Rev. Victoria Weinstein's sodomy fantasy altered to have Rev. Tracey Robinson-Harris sitting on the proverbial hot seat rather than state senator Bill Napoli.

"The UUA's Executive Director of Congregational Services, Rev. Dr. Tracey Robinson-Harris, anally impaled on the Statue of Liberty's torch."

Let's see if that little switcheroo lights a fire under Rev. Dr. Tracey Robinson-Harris' proverbial U*U.

Joe Schmoe in Podunkville Strikes Again!

This just posted, somewhere on the internet today . . .

"I could tell lies all day in the politest language imaginable but they would still be lies. Never mind, too many people already have that job."

No shortage of Unitarian*Universalist clergy and UUA officials already have that job. . . I just commented on this little fiasco on Wizard's blog by pointing out how the U*U "religious community" suffers from a similar problem with obnoxious U*U clergy bloggers who poorly represent U*Uism but who are none-the-less effectively endorsed by weasel-worded UUA officials like Rev. Dr. Tracey Robinson-Harris and Rev. Beth Miller, to say nothing of UUA President Bill Sinkford.

"Corpse-Cold" Montreal Unitarians Are Locked Out Of The "Corpse-Cold" Unitarian Church Of Montreal

Readers of this blog may recall that I decided to add U*U stupidity to the short-list of items that The Emerson Avenger blog will deal with, above and beyond U*U injustices, U*U abuses, and U*U hypocrisy. This post deals with some short-sighted stupidity on the part of the leadership of the Unitarian Church of Montreal that affects no one but the "corpse-cold" Unitarian members of this so-called "Welcoming Congregation". . .

I have often noticed that early comers to the Unitarian Church of Montreal find themselves locked-out and waiting for someone with a key to arrive to open the front doors (to say nothing of the back door) of their alleged "Welcoming Congregation". I never show up *that* early to begin my protest activities, rarely before 9:30 am unless there is an early service or some other reason to show up early, so the people that I refer to here as "early comers" are not really arriving all that early either. This morning I arrived at approximately 9:20 or so as I had got off to an early start. As I was approaching the church I noticed a couple of women leaving the church and suspected that they had found themselves locked out. The fellow in the maroon coat with a cane that you see in the photo arrived a bit later after I had begun to display my picket signs. Sure enough, he was locked out. One after another, over the space of at least another fifteen or twenty minutes, and possibly as much as half-an-hour, several more Montreal Unitarians showed up only to find that they were locked out of their not so welcoming Unitarian "church".

The photo shows seven "corpse-cold" Montreal Unitarians locked out of the "corpse-cold" Unitarian Church of Montreal on a rather cold, windy, and snowy winter day and I believe that one or two more people showed up before the front doors were finally opened. Rev. Diane Rollert, the new settled minister of the Unitarian Church of Montreal, showed up no earlier than 9:45 am and no one else with a key arrived before her. In fact, if I am not mistaken, it was actually Frank Greene who opened the front doors as he showed up a few minutes after Rev. Diane Rollert arrived. I don't think that Rev. Rollert even noticed the little flock of "corpse-cold" Montreal Unitarians huddled in front of the church entrance when she rode by in her silver Volkwagen because she was too busy staring at yours truly and my picket signs. . .

It seems to me that it would be prudent for the Unitarian Church of Montreal, to say nothing of all other Unitarian congregations ("welcoming" or otherwise. . .) to take steps to ensure that *someone* always arrives at the "church" building at least an hour before the service begins in order to allow early comers into the "church". This is especially true in Unitarian congregations in cold climates. It's one thing to be a "corpse-cold" Unitarian in the figurative sense that Ralph Waldo Emerson meant when he "ranted" about "corpse-cold Unitarianism" but it is quite another thing to be a corpse cold Unitarian in a literal sense having died from exposure after finding yourself locked out of your Unitarian "church". Even if one does not actually die from hypothermia it is bad enough to be standing outside one's U*U "church" freezing one's U*U off for fifteen or twenty minutes, if not longer. . . before someone with a key arrives to open up the doors.

The "long retired" minister emeritus of the Unitarian Church of Montreal Rev. Charles Eddis remarked on how cold it was today as he passed by me on his way into his U*U "church" a bit later. It wasn't really all *that* cold and I responded to his comment about the cold weather by saying that I thought it was actually quite a bit warmer outside his "corpse cold" Unitarian "church" than inside it. Indeed I said that it was quite "balmy" outside compared to his "frigid" Unitarian "church".

Meet Frank Greene - Montreal Unitarian "Poster Boy" For "Humanist" U*U Intolerance & Bigotry

Meet Frank Greene, the fundamentalist atheist "Humanist" U*U who snidely insinuated a link between Creation Day and the notorious Solar Temple mass murder/suicide cult when I was organizing the first celebration of Creation Day in the fall of 1994, and who repeatedly called Creation Day a "cult" in at least one conversation with a former member of the Unitarian Church of Montreal. Frank Greene, who is a former President of the Unitarian Church of Montreal and is still very much a "pillar" of this alleged Unitarian "Church", just earned the status of internet "poster boy" for "Humanist" U*U anti-religious intolerance and bigotry this morning.

When I saw Frank Greene heading back towards his parked car after having delivered a chair to the entrance of the Unitarian Church of Montreal I decided to take a few photos of him for possible future posting to this blog. When he saw me taking photos of him Frank Greene made a bee line straight for me, even though his car was parked at least 30 feet to my right and there is a pathway leading to where his car was parked that he could have taken. In fact the photo is slightly out of focus precisely because Frank Greene was walking very swiftly towards me. Frank Greene did the standard splayed hand camera blocking manouvre but, before I could get a shot of that gesture, immediately switched to putting both of his hands straight out in front of him at chest level as if he was going to shove me backwards. Frank stopped short of actually shoving me, which would have constituted an actual physical assault on me that could have had him facing criminal assault charges, and made a ridiculous comment about me blocking his way to the street when in fact there was plenty of space on my left side and he could have, and should have. . . taken the pathway behind him that led directly to where his car was parked. Instead of taking that path that led to his parked car Frank Greene chose the path of direct physical confrontation with me. Had he not done so I would not have been able to take such a close-up "mug shot" portrait of his mug which I believe quite successfully captures his animosity and aggressivity in the "eye contact" of his squinty-eyed stare and his tense pursed lips.
