The Emerson Avenger

The Emerson Avenger is a "memory hole" free blog where censorship is scorned. This blog will "guard the right to know" about any injustices and abuses that corrupt Unitarian Universalism. Posters may speak and argue freely, according to conscience, about any injustices and abuses, or indeed hypocrisy, that they may know about so that the Avenger, in the form of justice and redress, may come surely and swiftly. . . "Slowly, slowly the Avenger comes, but comes surely." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

In 1992 I underwent a profound revelatory experience of God which revealed that the total solar eclipse "Eye of God" is a "Sign in the Heavens" that symbolizes God's divine omniscience. You may read about what Rev. Ray Drennan of the Unitarian Church of Montreal contemptuously dismissed as my "psychotic experience" here: - This revelatory religious experience inspired me to propose an inter-religious celebration of Creation that would take place whenever a total solar eclipse took place over our planet. You may read about what Rev. Ray Drennan and other leading members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal falsely and maliciously labeled as a "cult" here: - I am now an excommunicated Unitarian whose "alternative spiritual practice" includes publicly exposing and denouncing Unitarian*Universalist injustices, abuses, and hypocrisy. The Emerson Avenger blog will serve that purpose for me and hopefully others will share their concerns here. Dee Miller's term DIM Thinking is used frequently and appropriately on this blog. The Edict Of Torda aka The Edict of Turda And Contemporary Unitarian*Universalism aka U*Uism

Well, since today is indeed the 440th anniversary of the proclamation of the Edict Of Torda aka the Edict Of Turda by King John Sigismund of Hungary on February 28, 1568, I think that I will post an English translation of this early attempt to guarantee religious freedom with appropriate embedded links in order to see just how well it has stood the test of time, particularly with respect to how well contemporary Unitarian*Universalists uphold the letter and the spirit of its principles and ideals, or not. . .

His majesty, our Lord, in what manner he – together with his realm – legislated in the matter of religion at the previous Diets, in the same matter now, in this Diet, reaffirms that in every place the preachers shall preach and explain the Gospel each according to his understanding of it, and if the congregation like it, well. If not, no one shall compel them for their souls would not be satisfied, but they shall be permitted to keep a preacher whose teaching they approve. Therefore none of the superintendents or others shall abuse the preachers, no one shall be reviled for his religion by anyone, according to the previous statutes, and it is not permitted that anyone should threaten anyone else by imprisonment or by removal from his post for his teaching. For faith is the gift of God and this comes from hearing, which hearings is by the word of God.

Monkeying With The Mind Of Rev. James Ishmael Ford Yet Again. . .

Rev. James Ishmael Ford is a Unitarian*Universalist minister, currently serving the First Unitarian Society in Newton, Massachusetts. His Monkey Mind blog is advertised as being,

"Adventures and ruminations of James Ishmael Ford, mostly featuring reflections on religion (particularly Unitarian Universalism and Zen Buddhism) as well as a little on politics (mostly progressive)."

Like many Unitarian*Universalist U*Us, Rev. James Ishmael Ford censors and suppresses pretty much every single comment that I submit to his "moderated" Monkey Mind blog. The only way that anyone is likely to see a comment that I have submitted to Rev. James Ishmael Ford's Monkey Mind blog is if I post it here or elsewhere on the internet. Thus the chances of anyone seeing any of my comments actually posted on Rev. James Ford's "moderated" aka censored U*U blog, and being able to read them. . . are close to zero.

Today Rev. James Ford's adventures, ruminations, and reflections on religion are about the fact that today marks the anniversary of King John Sigismund's Edict of Torda in 1579. It established the right of ministers to preach the gospel as they best understood it, and, as well, for congregants to reserve their own opinions in these matters. In contemporary Unitarian Universalism. . . this has come to be called "freedom of the pulpit" and "freedom of the pew."

Oh dear it looks like I just went and plagiarized a good chunk of Rev. James Ishmael Ford's The Dawn of Freedom of Religion in the West blog post. Oh well. . . In that this it for the purpose of commenting on and questioning his questionable U*U blog post I think that this can be considered to fall within the provisions of "Fair Use" although Rev. James Ford may beg to differ.

Rev. James Ishmael Ford concludes his blog post ruminating on today's anniversary of The Edict of Torda, aka The Edict of Turda. . . by saying -

Hurrah for liberal religion!

Hurrah for freedom of thought!

In typical self-congratulatory U*U fashion. . .

Herewith is the somewhat impertinent pertinent comment that I just submitted to that Monkey Mind blog post and which this oh so liberal, and oh so freedom affirming, Unitarian*Universalist minister and Zen Master will almost certainly censor and suppress aka silence. . .

Sometimes Unitarian*Universalist ministers would be very well advised to reserve their own opinions in certain matters. . .

Please allow me to "preach the gospel" as I best understand it. . .

Hurrah for liberal religion?

Hurrah for freedom of thought?

Rev. Laurel Hallman For UUA President?

Chances are pretty good. . .

It would seem that Rev. Peter Morales has his work cut out for him if he seriously wants to be elected as the next President of the UUA aka the Unitarian*Universalist Association of Congregations. Rev. Laurel Hallman's campaign seems to be off to a better start at least as far as campaign web sites go. Here are some words from the Reverend Dr. Laurel Hallman's speech to the congregation of the First Unitarian Church of Dallas in which she publicly announced her candidacy for UUA President. Needless to say they have The Emerson Avenger's embedded links to appropriate Google searches. . .

"I’m sure the founders of this faith and the founders of this church could not have imagined the world of today. But they gave us a way of thinking about religion, a way of embodying religion; they gave us a place to be religious together that is needed more than ever, in our pluralistic world. They knew then, as we know now, that our churches need to be strong and healthy not only to survive, but to be a vital presence where we will be so needed, for many years to come."

The Temporary Moratorium On Comments Is Lifted

For now. . .

Even though the initial phase of the court hearing / criminal trial caused by Rev. Diane Rollert's foolish decision to seek a restraining order against me is now behind me, and the next court date is three months down the road, I still have a lot of other important things to deal with and cannot spend hours and hours rebutting a whole pile of U*U BS. The fact of the matter is that I was not quite as well prepared as I had wanted to be due in no small measure to wasting too much of my time rebutting U*U BS here. Thankfully, as usual, the Unitarian Church of Montreal has a weak if not non-existent case against me and provided testimony and "evidence" that is full of questionable material that has been and will be called into question.

Joel Monka, James Indrax, and ChaliceChick as well as other U*Us posting comments are hereby warned that if they post U*U BS that contains DIM Thinking, over-the-top spurious allegations about me, or other falsehoods and lies etc. it will be given very short thrift. Most of the U*U crap that I had to deal with came from the aforementioned trio of U*Us and one or two other U*Us, including Anonymous U*U from Montreal aka "Michel Tremblay". All of these U*Us risk having their comments assigned to the U*U Hole if they post U*U BS. I would even advise them to voluntarily refrain from posting comments for a while, unless they have something genuinely worthwhile to say, in order to allow others to come forward and comment.

I also remind anonymous and pseudonymous commenters that I reserve the right to "out" them if I have reasonable grounds to believe that they are hiding behind anonymity and pseudonymity to post "injurious and untrue", "insulting and defamatory", or otherwise objectionable comments with little or no accountability.

If the volume of comments becomes too much for me to handle with the limited time that I have available to deal with comments, I may have to initiate another temporary moratorium on comments until I have more free time.

Yet Another Unitarian*Universalist Day In Court In The Lovely Month Of May. . .

Earlier this morning I was in Montreal's Palais de Justice in order to determine a date for the next day of the court hearing and/or criminal trial that has resulted from Rev. Diane Rollert's deeply misguided and outrageously hypocritical, to say nothing of quite paranoid and cynical. . . decision to attempt to seek a restraining order against me on the dubious and highly questionable basis that she has "reasonable grounds" to fear that I will commit a "serious personal injury offence" against her or other members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal. I arrived promptly before the 9:30 am court session began and the prosecutor and judge showed up quite promptly too. Nobody else did, so my case was processed immediately and efficiently and I was out of the courthouse by 10 am or so. The next court date for the aforementioned hearing/trial has been set for May 30th, 2008 and it is scheduled to be a full day in court. Hopefully all will go relatively smoothly and efficiently and it will be the last day in court with respect to this case.

Although the sole purpose of today's brief court appearance was to find and set a date for the continuation of the hearing/trial the judge did bring up another matter that I believe it is best to keep to myself for now. It has to do with the validity, or lack thereof. . . of some of the evidence submitted by the police and/or Crown prosecutor. We will know soon enough what the judge's decision is regarding that matter and I will feel free to speak more openly about it once the judge has rendered a decision as to whether or not she will accept the prosecution evidence that is now in question. . . I do believe that I have repeatedly said that the criminal charges brought against me as a result of complaints filed with the Montreal police force by Montreal Unitarians, and the dubious "evidence" that Montreal Unitarians present to support those bogus criminal charges are "highly questionable". As it happens the Quebec Court judge who is presiding over this case is now questioning the validity and relevance of some of the prosecution evidence that members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal have presented against me.

I am very satisfied with the May 30th court date for the next phase of this hearing/trial since this not only gives me a full three months to prepare my defence against Rev. Diane Rollert's and other Montreal Unitarian U*Us' dubious allegations about me, but it allows me to continue in my "alternative spiritual practice" of peacefully protesting against the anti-religious intolerance and "pure religious bigotry" of Rev. Ray Drennan and rather too many other "like-minded" fundamentalist atheist "Humanist" U*Us, to say nothing of other U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy, for another three months. In fact, I will pretty much be able to celebrate the tenth anniversary of my peaceful public protest against U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy since my "alternative spiritual practice" was initiated in May of 1998, as Jacquie Charlton's original Montreal Mirror newspaper article about my public protest which, was quite appropriately titled, 'Spitting In God's Eye', tends to confirm since it was researched, written and published some weeks after my protest began.

I had been seriously considering unilaterally ending my peaceful public protest in front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal after declaring moral victory upon observing and celebrating it's tenth anniversary in May or June of 2008, but Rev. Diane Rollert's very ill advised decision to seek a restraining order against me has caused me to reconsider that idea. My public protest certainly will not end until I know the result of the judgement in this case and, in the unlikely event that the restraining order is actually granted, I will make a point of reinitiating my public protest in front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal as soon as it has expired in order to prove some points to Montreal Unitarians, and indeed hypocritical U*Us U*U World-wide. The main point being that successfully censoring and suppressing legitimate criticism and dissent, especially criticism which arises out of well-documented U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy, does absolutely nothing to bring resolution to conflicts that are caused by U*U failings including U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy. Far from bringing an end to this prolonged war of words the restraining order, if it is granted, will only serve to prolong this drawn-out conflict by as long as the restraining order is in effect and then some. . .

Having said that, it should be obvious from my many Emerson Avenger blog posts, numerous other internet posts, and my direct email communications with Rev. Diane Rollert and other leaders of the Unitarian Church of Montreal, as well as UUA administrators including UUA President William G. Sinkford aka Rev. Bill Sinkford, that the only way to bring some resolution to this prolonged war of words is for Unitarian*Universalists to finally get around to responsibly addressing and adequately redressing the injustices and abuses that I am protesting against. Montreal Unitarians, the UUA, and the greater U*U religious community, can only live up to their so far remarkably empty "covenant" whereby U*Us promise to affirm and promote justice, equity and compassion in human relations by finally providing some genuine justice, genuine equity, to say nothing of some real compassion in this matter. Justice and equity can only be achieved via a process that includes frank and open dialogue and fair and reasonable negotiation of a settlement of the dispute. I have always sought dialogue with Montreal Unitarians and appropriate UUA officials but they have always ignored and/or rejected my calls for dialogue. Indeed Rev. Diane Rollert's cynical and hypocritical attempt to seek a restraining order against me in order to make any and all communication, not just dialogue. . . all but completely impossible for up to a year is one of the most egregious examples of a Unitarian*Universalist "religious leader" abjectly failing and even obstinately refusing to engage in responsible dialogue with me.

Although I have never formally communicated such an offer to the Board of the Unitarian Church of Montreal it should be obvious that if Montreal Unitarians agreed to initiate viable conflict resolution procedures and engage in dialogue with me towards the end of resolving this prolonged conflict I would at least temporarily suspend my public protest activities in front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal. Obviously such a temporary suspension of my protest would become a permanent one if it was possible to negotiate a genuinely just, equitable and compassionate resolution of this conflict. I have discussed formally making such an offer to the UCM's Board with one of the few members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal who has seen fit to engage in dialogue with me, and who even sought to promote more dialogue with me, but this person felt that the Board would almost certainly ignore such an offer or reject it out of hand. They thought that it would be a wasted effort that would only make the Board look bad. We both agreed that I really do not need any more material that makes the Board of the Unitarian Church of Montreal look bad, so I decided not to bother formally making the offer to suspend my protest if the Board agreed to enter into dialogue with me.

In that there is now a three month time period between today and the earliest date that Rev. Diane Rollert and the Board of the Unitarian Church of Montreal can hope to obtain the restraining order that they are seeking, and in that after Monday's court date they may have come to understand that they do not have strong evidence supporting Rev. Diane Rollert's claimed "reasonable grounds" to fear that I will commit a "serious personal injury offence" against her, or anyone else for that matter. . . I have decided that today is as good a day as any to openly make an offer to temporarily suspend my protest activities outside of the Unitarian Church of Montreal for up to two months if they agree to enter into dialogue with me towards the goal of arriving at a genuinely just, equitable and compassionate resolution of this conflict.

Simply put I will be making an offer to the Board of the Unitarian Church of Montreal to suspend my public protest until the end of April, and possibly longer, effective the minute that the Board actually enters into dialogue with me. No dialogue. No suspension. If however the Board of the Unitarian Church of Montreal does enter into dialogue with me, the temporary suspension of my public protest can be and will be extended until such a time as dialogue and negotiation prove to be a waste of my time, or a genuinely just, genuinely equitable, and genuinely compassionate resolution to this conflict is finally attained. The temporary suspension of my public protest can and will turn into a permanent one if and when Montreal Unitarians actually live up to their "covenant" to affirm and promote justice, equity and compassion in their human relations with me, rather than repeatedly and continually making a total mockery of that effectively fraudulent "covenant" made by the congregation of the Unitarian Church of Montreal.

Even though I have not yet composed or sent an email to the Board of the Unitarian Church of Montreal that extends this offer, and may not do so immediately, this Emerson Avenger blog post may be considered to be an "open letter" to the Board and congegration of the Unitarian Church of Montreal. If this offer is ignored or rejected out of hand, as may well be the case. . . I will withdraw it after a month has passed and I will not necessarily immediately offer it again if and when the Unitarian Church of Montreal fails to obtain the restraining order that it is currently seeking against me in the guise of Rev. Diane Rollert's real or pretended, but far from reasonable and well grounded. . . fear that I will commit a "serious personal injury offence" against her. I will none-the-less make the same or similar offer some time after the Unitarian Church of Montreal fails to obtain the restraining order or, on the off chance that they actually manage to obtain it, after I have resumed yet another year of peaceful public protest against Unitarian*Universalist injustices, abuses and hypocrisy in front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal after the restraining order has expired. . .

A Typo Is A Typo Is A Typo? Maybe Not. . .

For some time now I have been somewhat perturbed by the number of typographical errors in my comments made here and on other blogs. There is no question that I do make some typographical errors and unwitting spelling mistakes but at times it seemed that typographical errors were posted that I had not actually made. i.e. I was quite certain that I had spelled the word correctly before posting it. Usually these typographical errors took the form of an additional letter or two inserted in the word. In that I was quite certain that I had spelled the words correctly I wondered if the computer I was using, or Blogger's software, had some kind of glitch in it that caused the occasional insertion of additional letters to words posted to the internet.

It now looks like I probably had some "reasonable grounds" for that belief. . . Earlier this morning I noticed that the URL for the post below titled 'U*U COP Gets An Earful From A Real Cop. . .' had a typographical error of a nature similar to that previously described. i.e. an additional letter or two in the word.

At first I only noticed that the word "earful" was spelled as "earfukl" but I then noticed that the word "an" was spelled "abn". I was quite certain that I had spelled the title of the blog post correctly and sure enough it was indeed spelled correctly. So somehow, even though I clearly wrote 'U*U COP Gets An Earful From A Real Cop. . .', Blogger's automatically generated URL, that includes the first five or so words of the blog post title, contained two typographical errors that I did not actually make myself. . . I am not sure what the cause of these automatically generated typographical errors is but I am happy to learn that I am not quite as dyslexic as I might appear to be as a result of these typographical errors that may now be attributed to the proverbial "ghost in the machine" as it were.

Has anyone else noticed similar automatically typographical errors that they are quite certain that they are not actually responsible for? Some of these typos might be potentially embarrassing such as the "earfukl" typo in the URL that thankfully is not in the actual title of the blog post. Not that U*U COP didn't get something of a well deserved "earfukl" when, in his chosen fate as a Totalitarian Unitarian "Citizens' Police Officer", he called in yet another Unitarian*Universalist U*U BS complaint about my legitimate peaceful public protest against various U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy in front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal on Saturday, September 29th, 2007.

Unitarian*Universalism UUA Membership Statistics Update

Just a few days ago on February 23rd I blogged about how the only official UUA Membership Statistics for Unitarian*Universalist congregations that are publicly available and open to scrutiny on the official UUA web site are the better part of a decade old. The most recent membership numbers and other pertinent membership statistics provided on those UUA "church records" are for the 1999-2000 church year. Within a couple of days UU World magazine editor Chris Walton had seen fit to post some very recently updated official UUA congregational membership statistics on his Philocrites blog. I would encourage U*Us to go have a look at those very up-to-date UUA membership statistics and do the U*U math. . .

I take note of the fact that, as of February 1st 2008, the UUA's total number of certified congregations, including those with no financial contribution, is 986. This means that, one way or another. . . between the year 2000 when the UUA reported that it had 1,051 congregations and the beginning of 2008 the Unitarian*Universalist Association of Congregations aka the UUA somehow managed to "lose" no less than 65 U*U congregations. That averages out to a loss of about 8 Unitarian*Universalist congregations, "Welcoming Congregations" or otherwise. . . per year since the year 2000. I suppose that it is within possibility that this apparent "loss" of no less than 65 Unitarian*Universalist congregations within 8 years may have something to do with the split between the Canadian Unitarian Council and the Unitarian*Universalist Association of Congregations that took place in 2002. I can't help but notice however that no less than 11 Canadian Unitarian congregations are included in the most recent list of UUA certified congregations under the heading "International".

The web page that provides the UUA Data Services list of congregations that submitted membership numbers to the Unitarian*Universalist Association of Congregations this year provides a few buttons to conveniently organize this list of congregations according to several different categories including size. . . U*Us who are interested in doing some math may want to use the button that organizes this very recent list of Unitarian*Universalist congregations in order of their size and then scroll down to the bottom of the page. The numbers are not pretty. There are quite a number of U*U congregations with fewer than 50 members. A rough estimate, based on the position of the scrolling bar, would indicate that over 25% of Unitarian*Universalist congregations have 50 members or less. I will leave it up to U*Us to do more precise math. It seems that approximately 100 U*U congregations. i.e. more than 10% of Unitarian*Universalist "churches" have 25 members or less.

More later perhaps.

U*U COP Gets An Earful From A Real Cop. . .

As I said in the preceding post about today`s day in court I do not want to say *too* much about what transpired in court but some things are just *too* good not to share with U*Us U*U Worldwide, to say nothing of the general public. . . Amongst the testimony of various U*Us that came into my possession for the first time today there is a written declaration from the Totalitarian Unitarian "Citizens` Police Officer" who I have been inspired to refer to as U*U COP. His written testimony comprises four paragraphs of U*U BS which, as usual. . . is quite misleading and even contains some outright falsehoods. But at least some of what he wrote does have the ring of truth to it for the simple reason that it is quite unlikely to be untrue.

And just what might that be U*Us ask?

Well here is the essence of the final paragraph of the so-called Unitarian Church of Montreal`s self-proclaimed "Citizens` Police Officer" which relates his version of a phone call that he made to the Montreal police force on the fateful day of Saturday September 29th, 2007. This Unitarian*Universalist U*U yet again called the Montreal police to yet again complain about my peaceful public protest against various U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy in front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal. To U*U COP`s "dismay" the *real* police officer who answered his phone call was "uncooperative" - even "antagonistic" - and "repeatedly" said that "the events" that U*U COP aka "Citizens` Police Officer" described to the *real* police officer "constituted" a "peaceful protest". . . When U*U COP asked the *real* cop whether a "peaceful protester" was "entitled" to "break the law (ie the city bylaws)" this query "simply elicited some shouting". . . When U*U COP asked for the name of the *real* cop, the *real* cop refused to give it to U*U COP and "hung up". . .

ROTFLMU*UO yet again. . .

Obviously U*U COP believes that he is above the law and is "entitled" to break a variety of Montreal municipal bylaws such as littering, and commit various low crimes and misdemeanors such as petty theft, disturbing the peace, and disrupting traffic etc. in his chosen fate as a Totalitarian Unitarian "Citizens` Police Officer". . .

Yet Another Unitarian*Universalist Day In Court

Well today was the first day of the court hearing arising out of Rev. Diane Rollert's deeply misguided decision to seek a restraining order against me based on highly questionable claims of having "reasonable grounds" to fear that I will commit a "serious personal injury offence" against her. The hearing was scheduled to begin at 9:30 am but the court didn't actually open until the judge showed up a bit before 10:00 am. There were a few other cases to be dealt with so my case did not come up until some time later. When my case did come up the prosecutor only presented one single prosecution witness that being Rev. Diane Rollert. I found it quite interesting that the police detective who had handled the "investigation" was not called as a prosecution witness by the prosecutor, nor was there a single other prosecution witness, even though it later became apparent that the prosecution had collected a small pile of declarations from other members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal, including a quite revealing one from my good friend U*U COP who is no longer quite so anonymous as he was when I shot this and other U*U Tube videos of him in late September 2007.

I don't want to go into too much detail about what happened today because the hearing is not over yet and it may be several weeks, or even a few months, before a judgement is handed down in this matter, but suffice it to say that Rev. Diane Rollert's testimony as a prosecution witness, particularly when being personally cross-examined by the dreaded Emerson Avenger after the prosecutor had questioned her, contained a fair bit of U*U BS. Rev. Diane Rollert's testimony was highly misleading if not outright false at times. She was also somewhat evasive and even claimed to have no memory of certain things that she really should have remembered when asked certain questions.

I completed my fairly thorough cross-examination of Rev. Diane Rollert by about 12:30 pm under some pressure from the judge to wrap things up. In 20/20 hindsight there were a few other pertinent, and even somewhat important, questions that I could have and I should have asked Rev. Rollert but I am quite satisfied with the overall results of my relatively thorough cross-examination. The prosecution phase of the hearing ended with the termination of my cross-examination of Rev. Diane Rollert and the judge called for a recess for lunch until 2:15 pm.

I should mention that it had become clear earlier in today's hearing that the Crown prosecutors had failed to provide me with all of the police evidence against me as they should have on July 4th, 2007 when I was in court to "plead" that I was contesting Rev. Diane Rollert's dubious demand for a restraining order. I had thought that the evidence dossier was rather slim, with virtually no evidence other than some police reports and Rev. Diane Rollert's declarations to the police, and I had made a point of asking the Crown prosecutors at that time if they had provided all of the prosecution evidence against me. The Crown prosecutors had insisted that I had been given all of the prosecution's evidence against me and it was only today that it became clear that, for one reason or another. . . they had actually failed to provide much of the police evidence to me, even though the detective handling Rev. Diane Rollert's complaint was quite adamant that he had provided the complete police evidence file to the prosecutors to give to me on July 4th, 2007. I made this problem clear to the judge and requested that copies of all of the police evidence against me should be provided to me for my "full and complete" defence.

The judge called for a recess for lunch around 12:30 pm and said that the hearing would resume at 2:15 pm for the defence phase of the hearing. I reminded the judge that I had not yet seen all of the police evidence and she rather ungenerously suggested that I should obtain it from the Crown prosecutor and read it during my lunch break. When I asked the Crown prosecutor to provide me with a complete copy of the police evidence upon leaving the courtroom he replied that he did not have time to make photocopies of everything and black out the information that I was not supposed to see. He suggested that I obtain the complete evidence file from him after lunch. Needless to say this would leave very little time for me to review the police evidence before the defence phase of the hearing commenced at 2:15 pm. . .

I decided to go to my favorite Chinese restaurant in Montreal's minimalist ChinaTown for their excellent Kung Pao Chicken lunch special. After enjoying my meal of spicy Szechuan chicken accompanied by Won Ton soup, Jasmine tea and a fortune cookie who's "fortune" said, "You have a yearning for perfection" I wandered back to Montreal's Palais de Justice by about 1:50 pm or so. I was on a public phone in the Palais de Justice discussing how my day in court had gone so far with a retired police officer who is a long time supportive friend when the Crown prosecutor came down the stairs from the level above me carrying a stack of documents. He saw me talking on the phone and came over and handed me a fairly thick wad of police evidence.

Most of the evidence consisted of things that I was already quite familiar with, such as the few emails that I had sent to Rev. Diane Rollert seeking dialogue with her in the fall of 2006, and the TEA blog post titled 'The Emerson Avenger Has A Synchroni-City With Rev. Diane Rollert' that described my brief personal encounter with her on the way to the Unitarian Church of Montreal of Sunday November 19th, 2006 which prompted her to file a complaint with the police and seek the restraining order. Or perhaps I should say which served as an excuse to file a complaint with the police and to seek a restraining order. The police evidence that I had not actually seen before was a series of written declarations by various members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal that stated how terribly distressed they are by my "alternative spiritual practice" of protesting against various U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy in front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal and how some of them fear that I will commit a "serious personal injury offence" against them or other members of the so-called Unitarian Church of Montreal. There were also a couple of pages of photocopies of black&white thumbnails of digital photographs of my public protest activities that had been taken by Montreal photographer Joshua Radu.

I returned to the courtroom and waited for the judge to show up. When the hearing resumed I explained to the judge that I had only received the full dossier of police evidence at around 2:00 pm and had not completed reading it. She ordered another short recess of 15 minutes to allow me to complete my initial review of the police evidence. Upon her return the judge asked me about how much more could be completed in the afternoon. I made it clear that I really needed more time to properly review the police evidence, especially since there was written testimony from several other people and I might want to call some of them as witnesses to cross-examine their rather dubious, if not outright perjurious, testimony.

I had previously stated that I wanted to cross-examine the police detective handling the case and we agreed to put aside the other evidence for now and at least deal with what could be done today. Following my examination of the police detective, as a defence witness rather than a prosecution witness. . . it was agreed that not much more could be accomplished today and a date for resuming the hearing and continuing my defence against Rev. Diane Rollert's demand for a restraining order would need to be set. A court date for determining the date for continuing, and hopefully completing, my defence against Rev. Rollert's and other Montreal Unitarian U*Us' paranoid fantasies was set for later this week but I have no idea what the actual date of the resumption of the hearing will be. If past experience with criminal prosecution in Quebec Court is any indication the date for the resumption of the hearing may well be a few months down the road.

That is all for now but I may be posting more about the hearing later this week. For now I will continue the moratorium on comments since I still have a lot on my plate, not just this hearing/trial by any means, and I really do have much better things to do with my time than endlessly rebutting more U*U BS spouted by a small handful of U*U trolls that is often just a repetative rehash of things that have been said many times before. If anyone has something pertinent that they want to say I would ask them to send it to me by email for now. You can always post it as a comment here later, once the moratorium on comments is ended, or post it to your own blog if you have one.

UUA Unitarian*Universalist Membership Statistics Are Aging. . .

I can`t help but notice that the official UUA membership statistics that are posted on the UUA web site are close to a decade old. The last membership statistics provided in that Unitarian*Universalist church record which is open to scrutiny by Unitarian*Universalists, to say nothing of the general public. . . are for the 1999-2000 church year. A full seven years have gone by since the 1999-2000 membership statistics were compiled and released but no updated statistical information about membership levels in the tiny fringe religion known as Unitarian*Universalism, aka the U*U Movement, are readily available and open to scrutiny.

The deadline for congregations to complete Certification of Membership for 2008 was February 1st at 5 p.m. Eastern Time. According to the official UUA web site all UUA member congregations are asked to complete Certification of Membership each year, between November 15 and the end of the business day on February 1. The statistical and membership data that Unitarian*Universalist congregations supply to the UUA during this annual process determines the number of delegates that each Unitarian*Universalist congregation can send to General Assembly, among other things. . . It seems to me that this caveat would tend to tempt Unitarian*Universalist congregations, fellowships and "churches" to inflate their own individual membership statistics in order to maximize the number of delegates that they may send to the Unitarian*Universalist Association of Congregations General Assembly aka UUA GA each year.

One thing is quite certain, the membership statistics of individual Unitarian*Universalist congregations represents total membership levels of all signed-up adult members in good standing, as well as the total annual enrollment in their Religious Education aka RE programs for children and youth. The actual number of people regularly attending "church" services at Unitarian*Universalist congregations or showing up to U*U RE is likely to be significantly lower than the membership and RE enrollment totals that are reported to the UUA each year.

The official UUA membership statistics for the 1999-2000 "church" year report a total of 1,051 U*U "churches" aka Unitarian*Universalist congregations, with 155, 449 adult U*Us, and 61,482 RE enrollments. Statistics for U*U ministers in fellowship are not available for the 1999-2000 "church" year but the 1998-1999 statistics reported that there were 1,445 fellowshipped Unitarian*Universalist ministers. Presumably the figure did not change much over the course of one year. Concerned members of the "tiny fringe religion" known as Unitarian*Universalism may wish to compare those near decade old official UUA membership statistics with those of 1961 when the American Unitarian Association merged with the Universalist Church of America to form the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations aka the UUA.

Official UUA statistics for the 1961 "church" year reported a total of 1,035 U*U "churches", only 16 fewer than the number of U*U "churches" in 2000. 1961 adult membership was 151,557 members. So, over the course of nearly 40 years, the Unitarian*Universalist religious community "grew" by 16 "churches" and a whopping 4000 members. In 1961 RE enrollments were 77,546 children and youths, about 15,000 more RE enrollments than 40 years down the road. In 1961 there were 856 Unitarian Universalist ministers in fellowship. That is 589 fewer fellowshipped Unitarian Universalist clergy than in 1999. I seem to recall saying that there appears to be something of a surplus of Unitarian Universalist ministers recently. . .

One very interesting financial statistic that is provided in these official UUA statistics is congregational expenses measured in millions of dollars. I presume that these are the total expenses of all of the individual member congregations of the UUA, and thus do not reflect the multi-million dollar budget of the UUA "corporate headquarters" at 25 Beacon Street in Boston. Total congregational expenses for the 1,o35 U*U congregations of 1961 were $10,500,000.00. By the 1999-2000 "church" year total congregational expenses for 1,051 U*U congregations (only 16 more than in 1961) had reached $152,700,000.00. U*Us do the math. . .

Allow me to help U*Us along a bit. The official UUA statistics very conveniently provide congregational expenses in 1998 dollars so that they may be compared to each other over the full range of years from 1961 to 1999-2000. 1961's $10.5 million worth of congregational expenses thus becomes $59.5 million in 1998 dollars. So between 1961 and 1999-2000 congregational expenses more than doubled if measured in 1998 dollars. Now U*Us may understand why it is that more and more U*U ministers and lay leaders are now asking U*Us to double their pledges from the former recommended 5% of their annual income to 10% of their annual income aka a tithe. . .

Getting back to the UUA's official membership statistics there is now a seven year gap between the last publicly available UUA statistics for the 1999-2000 "church" year and the 2007-2008 U*U "church" year. In that U*U "church records" are "open to scrutiny" U*Us who care about the current state of health of their "tiny fringe religion" might be very well advised to mind that gap and ask the UUA to provide some updated official statistics that fill in that gap with membership levels and financial figures that cover the period from 2000 until 2008. It is well within possibility that the Unitarian*Universalist religion aka the U*U "church" is an even tinier fringe religion than it was at the turn of the second millennium of the monotheistic religion that it devolved from. . .

James Andrix Cautions "Conservative" U*U Joel Monka To Be Moderate. . .

I am posting this corrected and slightly revised, aka new and improved, version of my follow-up comments to yesterday's quite thorough point-by-point rebuttal of self-professed "conservative" U*U Joel Monka's considerably less than conservative victim blaming U*U BS about me. James Andrix, who is usually better known for his "wild*ass statements" that may be found all over the internet*, actually chimed in early this morning with some very good advice for Joel Monka that other U*Us would be very well advised to pay heed to, and put into practice, if they would like our little war of words to wind down and even finally wind up one of these days. . .

James Andrix said... Joel: Do not attack. 2:30 AM

That is pretty good advice James. Too bad that you could not take it yourself recently, to say nothing of in the past. . . In any case, the original post here titled "The Tragedy of Robin Edgar" is an attack, as are some of the follow-up comments. I have made it clear to U*Us that, as long as U*Us continue to attack me in various ways, the gloves will be off if and when I choose to retaliate. Unfortunately, most U*Us seem to be awfully slow learners. . . Quite frankly I should have posted my point-by-point rebuttal as soon as it was possible to do so, but I just was not all that concerned that people of intelligence and conscience would put much weight in Joel's strident U*U BS. I am still not concerned about that but decided to post my thorough rebuttal to educate those DIM Thinking U*Us who clearly lack both intelligence and conscience.

Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that most U*Us who *choose to comment* seem to be awfully slow learners and prefer to attack me rather than responsibly acknowledge the "pure religious bigotry" and other injustices and abuses that I am fighting against. I expect that there are plenty of U*Us who have read this post, and The Emerson Avenger blog, who have had the good sense to hold their tongues even if they felt like attacking me.

The tone of this debate can change considerably if and when U*Us stop saying and/or posting highly questionable over-the-top U*U BS about me that is usually very easily rebutted with verifiable facts and truthful testimony. When U*Us are civil and reasonably respectful towards me and other people I usually do not attack them. This is readily verifiable by reviewing my interactions with U*Us on U*U blogs whose owners do not censor my legitimate posts that deal with U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy and do not attack me. There are more of those than U*Us might think. . .

Well Joel Monka is going to have a hard time kicking me in the balls when I just finished smashing his clay feet into little pieces isn't he James? I find it most ironic how in thoroughly smashing Joel's clay feet I have exposed yet another Unitarian*Universalist aka U*U. . . case of foot-in-mouth disease. Joel would be very well advised to refrain from attacking me, as would all other U*Us who may be tempted to do so. In fact Joel Monka would be much better off acknowledging defeet here (typo intended) and toning down his emotion driven over-the-top U*U BS that only serves as a fine example of the U*U foot-in-mouth disease that harms the U*U fold. Speaking of folds. . . I would like to remind Joel Monka of the term "threefold".

Come to think of it. . . I will put my "considerable intelligence" and "command of the language", as well as my "finely reasoned argument" to good use here and remind U*U Joel Monka of yet another meaning of the word fold. If he chooses to raise the anti-Robin rhetoric to yet another level of U*U BS he will probably live to regret it three times over. . .

In fact, "conservative" U*U Joel Monka would be very well advised to refresh his memory about the meaning of the word "conservative", and then apply the appropriate definition of that valuable English word to his far from cautious and moderate rhetoric about me, and no I do not mean "a person who is reluctant to accept changes and new ideas". . .

Wow! It only just struck me that there are actually thousands upon thousands of conservative Unitarian*Universalists aka conservative U*Us in that sense of the word "conservative"!

ROTFLMU*UO yet again. . .

Rebutting The Tragic U*U BS Of Joel Monka. . .

The following long overdue point-by-point rebuttal of Joel Monka's victim blaming, and otherwise DIM Thinking, The Tragedy of Robin Edgar thread has just been posted as a follow-up comment on his CUUMBAYA blog. I am cross posting it here with a few minor errors and typos corrected:

Well I guess I might as well waste some more of my time and finally thoroughly rebut Joel Monka's U*U BS. Herewith my long overdue point-by-point rebuttal of Joel Monka's rather tragic DIM Thinking U*U BS -

:If this is the first UU blog you’ve ever read, you will be wondering what this is about; have faith- you will soon learn, as he is one of the most prolific posters in the religious world.

Look's that way doesn't it Joel?

:If you are a veteran of any UU blogs or forums, you are already well acquainted with Robin, for I’m unaware of a single UU venue he hasn’t posted on.

You are unaware of a lot more than that Joel. In fact there are plenty of U*U "venues" that I have not bothered to post on, to say nothing of those that I have been banned from posting on. . .

:He has made it difficult to follow many a thread on most forums for years by hijacking them for his own agenda, a habit that has resulted in a great many of his posts being deleted and made him persona non grata in many venues. But this is not the tragedy of Robin Edgar.

Indeed it isn't. The real tragedy here is U*U "memory holing" and other U*U censorship of legitimate criticism and dissent. Especially when U*Us pretend to be "opposed to censorship by church, state or any other institution" and great defenders of civil rights and liberties in their evidently fraudulent religious propaganda. . .

:Robin is a man of considerable intelligence and command of the language, capable of finely reasoned argument- but for years he has been using this talent for a single purpose, to attack.

Wrong. I most certainly do use my considerable intelligence and command of language and finely reasoned argument to expose and denounce U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy but that is by no means the only way I use these talents. For the record a good portion of my "attacks" are in defence against, or retaliatation for. . . insulting and defamatory attacks on me by intolerant and abusive U*Us.

:Rather than eagerly reading his posts as people once did, they now skip over them as there will be nothing new,

No of course not. . . It's the same old same old isn't it Joel?

:and even the old news will be stated in such savage terms as to be either maddening or just sad.

ROTFLMU*UO! Where are all these "savage terms" Joel?

I dare say that intolerant and abusive U*Us are far more prone to using savage terms that are either maddening or just sad than I am Joel. Heck, half the time I am having a good laugh at the expense of foolish U*Us.

:But this is not the tragedy of Robin Edgar.

Indeed it is not, because it is just more ignorant U*U BS spouted by Joel Monka.

:Robin has divided the world into two camps: those who will take up his cause and attack people they don’t know from Adam just on his say-so, and those he considers his enemies.

Another fine example of Joel Monka's ridiculous U*U BS.

:He even treats those who sympathize with him and wish him well, as I do despite his recent behavior and personal insults, in the same harsh manner. But this is not the tragedy of Robin Edgar.

Indeed it isn't Joel. Your U*U BS is BS is BS. . .

:Robin claims to have been treated unfairly by his home UU congregation, and you know what? Despite not knowing any of the principals in the fight, I believe he probably was- at least in the beginning, before descending to their level and below.

Maybe Joel Monka would care to provide some examples of just how I have descended to the level of Rev. Raymond Drennan, other Montreal Unitarians, to say nothing of various UUA officials like Rev. Diane Miller, Rev. Dr. Tracey Robinson-Harris and other rather low U*Us.

:The attitudes and language he (endlessly) complains of actually ring true for a certain strain of secular humanist I’ve witnessed in action myself. But even this is not the tragedy of Robin Edgar.

Indeed this is not my tragedy Joel. The attitudes and language I (endlessly) complain of actually do ring true for a certain strain of secular humanists and that is actually a tragedy, but by no means the only one. . . of the "tiny fringe religion" known as Unitarian*Universalism aka U*Uism.

:The tragedy of Robin Edgar is that he has forsaken his vision.

More U*U BS courtesy of Joel Monka.

:Robin was granted a profound religious vision, and mission.

Right. Please remind us just what that profound religious vision and mission was Joel.

:This is something the Divine does not do lightly, or for no reason- there are those who spend their lives seeking such a revelation, who pray that they be given such a mission.

And who should be very careful what they ask for lest they get it. . .

:He did make an attempt to follow this mission... but after being rejected by a single congregation of a single denomination, his purpose changed.

More U*U BS. My purpose did not change but I did add and synthesize the purpose of exposing and denouncing U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy to my "mission", particularly since the slanderous lies of the U*Us harmed my ability to carry out my "mission" and, at least in some ways. . . protesting against these and other U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy helped me to spread the word about it.

:Instead of spreading the word, his pain demanded that he punish the denomination that rejected him.

Wrong again Joel. My ongoing fight against U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy has little to do with personal pain. I am a very emotionally tough person in case U*Us haven't noticed yet. . . It has much more to do with trying to bring some much needed reform to the corrupted and quite Godless "tiny fringe religion" known as U*Uism. Like UUA Presidential candidate Peter Morales, I believe that U*Uism is capable of becoming considerably more than the "tiny fringe religion" that it currently is if it returns to the monotheistic religious heritage that it has all but totally rejected. . .

:Instead of spreading the good news of the Divine, he decided to spread the bad news of the UUA.

More U*U BS. I am doing both and even synthesizing those "missions" to some degree. Anyway, who said that the news I got from "the Divine" was all good news? I certainly didn't. . .

:His hurt led him to abandon his vision in favor of punishing anyone who will not march to Boston to protest his rejection.

ROTFLMU*UO! Yet another fine example of Joel Monka's completely over-the-top U*U BS. I have most certainly not abandoned my vision nor am I punishing anyone who will not march to Boston with me to protest against a whole host of U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy.

:He has squandered an entire decade on this mission of pride, rather than the mission of God he was granted.

Wrong again Joel. For starters my prophetic "mission" against various U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy, including but by no means limited to the anti-religious intolerance and bigotry that corrupts the U*U "religion", is not a "mission of pride". In fact pride has little to do with it. If anyone has "squandered an entire decade" it is DIM Thinking Unitarian*Universalist U*Us who have squandered numerous opportunities to do the right thing, acknowledge the very real and very well-documented injustices, abuses and hypocrisy that they are clearly and unequivocally guilty of, and finally get around to responding in genuine responsibility to the Spirit that bloweth where it listeth. . .

:He spent that precious time seeking allies in his quest to punish those who rejected him rather than seeking those who would accept his vision.

More U*U BS. I spent very little time "seeking allies" in my quest to expose and denounce U*U injustices abuses and hypocrisy because it was obvious that very few U*Us were interested in practicing what they preach from the beginning of this conflict. I have spent plenty of time seeking those who would accept my vision but very few people seem terribly interested in doing that either. Hundreds of thousands of people, if not a few million, have been exposed to my vision in various ways but almost none have shown much interest in becoming allies. It is not me who is squandering my "mission" or my "vision" but the many people who choose to ignore it or reject it out of hand. Tragically that includes thousands of U*Us who pretend in their fraudulent religious propaganda and outrageously hypocritical sermons to be a "religious community" where "Revelation is not sealed!"

:That time could have been spent writing books or pamphlets about God’s Eye-

Been there done that years ago Joel. . .

:but when Googling to write this post, all I could find written in detail about his vision was a 1997 short article in a CUUPS newsletter.

My various "websights" that shared my vision with hundreds of thousands of people went down in the fall of 2006 but a Google search should have found cached versions of them. I must get around to rebuilding them one of these days but, in that hundreds of thousands of people were exposed to the revelation that I am claiming and were not all that interested in helping me to share it, reestablishing those websights is not my highest priority at the moment.

:During that decade, Wicca grew from a few thousand to a couple million, (many times the size of the UUA), Falun Gong entranced millions, and legions of seekers have wandered from Pagan sect to metaphysical bookstore, looking for that vision. And where was Robin? Hanging out in UU forums, blasting the minister at his first congregation.

And where was that tiny, and indeed rather stagnant and even dwindling, "fringe religion" known as U*Uism Joel? Where might Unitarian*Universalism be today if it had actually lived up to its claimed principles and purposes and other ideals in its *reaction* to my claimed revelation of God rather than consistently and repeatedly making a total mockery of them? For the record I was by no means blasting only the fundamentalist atheist anti-religious bigot of a "Humanist" U*U minister who intolerantly and abusively attacked me, and trampled all over the pearls of timeless wisdom that I honoured U*Us by trying to share with them. I have been blasting the Unitarian Church of Montreal as a congregation, the UUA as an institution, and various injustices, abuses and hypocrisy found throughout the so-called U*U World. That is part and parcel of what prophets are called to do *Joel*. . .

:Robin is still a relatively young man; there is still time for him to fulfill the mission God gave him.

Please do fill us in on the extent and details of the mission God gave me Joel. I am all ears. Or perhaps I should say I am all eyes. . . But thanks for acknowledging that there is still time for me to fulfill said "mission". Even if there is not, God can find someone else to fulfill it. God has lots of time. It is human beings who may be running out of time to respond appropriately to contemporary revelation of God. Indeed most human beings who have been exposed to my "mission" in one way or the other over the last decade or more have squandered the opportunity that was presented to them, and that includes no shortage of religious leaders from various faiths. Please do point out which U*U minister ever responded in genuine responsibility to the spirit of my mission Joel. . .

:There is still time for the Emerson Avenger to realize that vengeance belongs to God, and I pray to all I hold sacred that he does so... but I fear he will not.

I am not actually seeking "vengeance" Joel. I am seeking genuine restorative justice, equity and accountability, to say nothing of a little compassion. . . from (so far) rather corpse-cold Unitarians Joel. Of course, in the absence of even the slightest effort on the part of Unitarian*Universalist U*Us to provide some genuine justice and equity, to say nothing of their preference to try to delay, deny and outright pervert justice, a little bit of U*U Jihad "direct action" here and there helps to fill the gaping hole where genuine justice and equity should be. . .

:He is in Denial about his own role in his marginalization...

Wrong again Joel, but you are certainly in deep Denial of the role of the Unitarian Church of Montreal, the UUA and its aptly named Ministerial Fellowship Committee, and the roles of many other DIM Thinking U*Us (including your own role) in my ongoing marginalization within the U*U World. I went though standard procedures for more than two years before going public Joel. Montreal Unitarians and UUA U*Us squandered more than two years in which a genuinely just, equitable and compassionate resolution to this war of words could have been quite easily reached. Since then they have squandered the better part of a decade by not only doing absolutely nothing to responsibly redress my serious grievances but they have only escalated and aggravated this war of words with their deeply misguided and outrageously hypocritical unjust, inequitable and uncompassionate reactionary reactions to my legitimate grievances and protests.

:Ignorant of how many out there are ready to receive the vision he has stopped offering them...

You are apparently ignorant of the fact that I have already offered "the vision" to hundreds of thousands of people who have mostly ignored it, disregarded it, or rejected it out of hand. I have never stopped offering my vision Joel even if I have slowed my pace a bit for some good reasons. My vision has been available on the internet for many years in one form or another and, where possible, I continue to offer it to people in other ways. As usual it tends to fall on "deaf" ears and "blind" eyes.

:and Minimizing the damage he is doing to his own soul by forsaking his mission.

God knows that I have not forsaken my mission Joel, even if I have taken a bit of a go slow approach for some very good reasons for the last little while. You and other DIM Thinking U*Us are however clearly Minimizing the damage that U*Us have done, and are still doing, to their own U*U Souls and to U*Uism as a "religion" by forsaking virtually every principle, every purpose and ideal, claimed by U*Uism in not only ignoring and/or rejecting my "mission" and "vision" but by intolerantly and abusively trampling all over the pearls that I have offered to the U*U "religious community". And That is the real tragedy of the U*U World Joel. . . The one thing that you claim is "The Tragedy of Robin Edgar" is not even true, but I can point to any number of ways that U*Us have responded to my "mission" and my "vision" that can be properly described as tragic. In fact your DIM Thinking U*U BS spouted here could be justifiably described as the tragedy of Joel Monka. . .

Molly Ivins Joins U*U Jihad To Kick Some U*U Ass

So keep fightin' for freedom and justice, beloveds,
but don't you forget to have fun doin' it.

Lord, let your laughter ring forth.
Be outrageous, ridicule the fraidy-cats,
rejoice in all the oddities
that freedom can produce.

And when you get through kickin' ass
and celebratin' the sheer joy of a good fight,
be sure to tell those who come after
how much fun it was.

Ms. Kitty's Big Fat U*U Memory Hole. . .

Ms. Kitty decided that I should create this Emerson Avenger blog post. . .

In case anyone is wondering what I posted to the Affirmations of Humanism thread of "aging hippie" Rev. Kit Ketcham's Ms. Kitty's Saloon and Road Show blog, here is one of the comments that she "memory holed". This comment was the second comment that I made after she "memory holed" the initial comment that pointed out that Humanists are no better at actually practicing their claimed principles and ideals, such as those expressed in 'Free Inquiry' magazine editor Paul Kurtz', A STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES, than U*Us are. . .

I don't think that it was the least bit "off topic" to point out that all those fine principles purportedly espoused by Humanists may not be put into practice any better than U*Us put the Seven Principles and other U*U ideals into practice.

I know plenty of "Humanists" who abjectly fail and even obstinately refuse to apply reason to the solving of human problems. Of course they are U*U "Humanists" for the most part but all that does is kill two birds with one stone. ;-)

I know plenty of "Humanists" who quite regularly denigrate the human intelligence of God believing people. They are U*U "Humanists" for the most part but the last time I checked Richard Dawkins wasn't a U*U. . .

I know "Humanists" who go to great lengths to manipulate democracy and who can be properly considered to be quite anti-democratic, and even totalitarian, in their words and actions. Within the context of individual U*U "churches", if not the greater U*U World, some "Humanist" U*Us form authoritarian elites and repressive majorities that disregard and flaunt the human rights of other U*Us.

Most of the U*U "Humanists" that I have the misfortune to know most certainly do not cultivate the arts of negotiation and compromise as a means of resolving differences and achieving mutual understanding. Likewise these "Humanists" are anything but concerned with securing justice and fairness within U*U society and with eliminating discrimination and intolerance within the U*U World. The U*U "Humanists" I know don't know the meaning of the phrase "cultivation of moral excellence." They are all but morally and ethically bankrupt when it comes to some issues.

If you'd like I could go on to point out how U*U "Humanists" have made a total mockery of the rest of that "Humanist" statement of principles by doing the exact opposite of those principles "affirm" but I think that I have already more that adequately made my point. . .

And no it these comments are by no means "off topic", unless of course the topic is boostering "Humanism" in "blind faith". . .

end quote

I will try to reconstruct the rest of what I posted to Ms. Kitty's "memory hole" laden blog a bit later. Of course there would probably only have been one comment, and a considerably briefer one than this one, if Ms. Kitty aka Rev. Kit Ketchum had simply refrained from "memory holing" the initial comment. Come to think of it I may well be doing non-U*U "Humanists" something of a disservice by asserting that they are no better at practicing what they preach than U*Us are. Although I have a fair number of atheist and agnostic friends, most of the people I know who call themselves Humanists are "Humanist" U*Us. While there are no doubt lapses, and probably some quite serious ones, in living up to their stated principles by non-U*U Humanists I am not convinced that they quite so egregiously and quite so consistently fail or refuse to practice what they preach than U*U "Humanists" do.

Update: High Noon February 19th, 2008

OK Here is a reconstruction of the somewhat impertinent pertinent comments that I posted to Rev. Kit Ketcham's blog post about Humanist principles which Ms. Kitty decided in her questionable wisdom to "cover up and hide" aka "memory hole". . .

Robin Edgar said...
What "Humanists" state in their principles may differ considerably from how they actually behave. The same principle applies to U*Us and the Seven Principles of U*Uism, to say nothing of other claimed ideals of the "tiny fringe religion" known as U*Uism.

Yet Another Unitarian*Universalist Haiku. . .

Inspired by this Unitarian Haiku found at The Irregular Times
I just whipped up a brand-spanking new

Robin Edgar. . . ;-)

Well actually I guess I pretty much plagiarized J. Clifford's work.

Some Questions About Aurélien Guillory Courtesy Of The Dagger Of Sweet Reason. . .

Orchid U*Us not. . .

Aurélien Guillory is quite the colorful U*U character isn't he?

Was the sky Sky Blue when Aurélien Guillory purloined Robin Edgar's U ASS*TO*RISK U picket sign, or was it Steel Grey? Orange U*Us just tickled Pink by the evidently stupid, if not outright petty criminal. . . actions "both/and/or/or reversed" reactions of this 97% White (albeit not Anglo-Saxon) Unitarian*Universalist UltraMaroon?

Will interior designer Aurélien Guillory's face turn Purple when he reads about his latest 15 minutes worth of U*U World fame or will it turn Ghost White? Or is it possible that oh so colourful Montreal Unitarian U*U Aurélien Guillory has Brass Balls?

Are any U*Us seeing Red about unintelligent designer Aurélien Guillory's latest U*U stupidity? Or are DIM Thinking U*Us turning Green with envy at Aurélien Guillory's heroic U*U actions on behalf of the U*U movement ? What are the odds that Montreal Unitarian U*U Aurélien Guillory is Yet Another Yellow Unitarian*Universalist?

Is interior designer Aurélien Guillory trying to Brown-Nose U*Us U*U World-wide into awarding him interior design contracts for the Unitarian Church of Montreal and other U*U "churches" by stealing Robin Edgar's picket signs for no apparent reason?

Should Robin Edgar charge Aurélien Guillory with theft or Olive and let live? Should that Black-hearted Transcendentalist Super-Hero dreaded U*U Worldwide as The Emerson Avenger apply a Papaya Whip to Aurélien Guillory's Flesh? Or should The Dagger of Sweet Reason order the U*U Jihad Navy to fire an irrepairably damaging broadside into Aurélien Guillory's big fat U*U ass?

Feel free to let The Dagger Of Sweet Reason know by sending him a communiqu-eh.

Is Aurélien Guillory Crazy?

I had thought of titling this post Yet Another Unitarian*Universalist Thief or Yet Another Unitarian*Universalist Petty Criminal but decided that the above title is rather more apropos. . . In yet another Unitarian*Universalist senseless act of stupidity, if not criminality. . . oh so colorful unintelligent designer Aurélien Guillory confiscated one of my picket signs earlier today.

A strong gust of wind blew all three of my freestanding picket signs down, and one of them that had been leaning up against the municipal rubbish bin that graces the entrance of the Unitarian Church of Montreal was blown about halfway up the main path that leads from the sidewalk to the main entrance of the Unitarian Church of Montreal. As I was standing there debating whether or not to step onto the property of the Unitarian Church of Montreal to retrieve that stray picket sign colorful Montreal interior designer Aurélien Guillory and his female friend or partner approached the Unitarian Church of Montreal from the east using the narrow path made for disabled people, or whatever word oh so PC U*Us use to describe disabled people these days, that runs along the front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal and intersects with the main entry path.

When Aurélien and his partner turned onto the ramp for disabled people that leads to the main doors of the UCM he saw my picket sign lying on the other side of the railing that is intended to help people who have difficulty walking, which is definitely a growing demographic at the aging and dwindling Unitarian Church of Montreal, to say nothing of many other "churches" of the "tiny fringe religion" known U*U World-wide as U*Uism. . . Aurélien Guillory haughtily demanded that I remove the picket sign from the path. I responded to him by politely suggesting that he pick it up and bring it to me since, strictly speaking, I am not allowed to step onto the property of the Unitarian Church of Montreal. This was a bit of a test in that, in the not so distant past, not so intelligent designer Aurélien Guillory had tried to illegally confiscate aka steal my freestanding picket signs, and had thus gained his first fifteen minutes worth of U*U World fame. Needless to say, Aurélien Guillory did not miss another opportunity to miss an opportunity to gain some more U*U World fame on The Emerson Avenger blog. . .

Unfortunately I decided not to bring my Pentax K10D digital SLR, or any other digital camera, to "church" today, otherwise I would probably have had a yet another digital photograph of Unitarian*Universalist Aurélien Guillory illegally confiscating yet another picket sign or even some U*U Tube video footage. Aurélien Guillory responded to my suggestion that he bring my stray picket sign to me, rather than having me stepping onto "church" property to retreive it and risk having him or some other U*U then using that as an excuse to charge me with trespassing or something, by saying, "I will just bring it in for you." He obviously meant that he would pick it up and bring it into the Unitarian Church of Montreal. How this could be "for me" is beyond me however. . . I warned Aurélien that he risked being charged with theft if he did so but that did not deter this DIM Thinking Montreal Unitarian U*U from doing the wrong thing as it were. He picked up the stray picket sign and took it into the Unitarian Church of Montreal.

Interestingly enough the picket sign slogans on that particular picket sign said -

with the latter slogan being face up when Aurélien confiscated it.

Most appropriate I think. . .

So, yet again. . . not so intelligent U*U interior designer Aurélien Guillory has managed to make an U*U out of himself and contributed to further "image tarnishing" of the already "irrepairably damaged" reputation of the Unitarian Church of Montreal. I waited for him, or another Montreal Unitarian, to come to their senses and come out of the Unitarian Church of Montreal to hand me back my picket sign but not a single U*U did so. . . As much as it was very tempting to call in a complaint to the Montreal police force about yet another Unitarian*Universalist theft of my picket signs, this time by Aurélien Guillory rather than that fool of a Queen's Counsel lawyer Kenneth Howard QC, and thus have the Montreal police yet again disrupt a church service of the Unitarian Church of Montreal in trying to catch yet another Unitarian*Universalist petty criminal, or at least retrieve the stolen picket sign, I decided not to bother. Unlike crazy Montreal Unitarians, including their apparently quite paranoid Yankee minister Rev. Diane Rollert, I try not to unduly harass the Montreal police force, even when I do have legitimate reasons to call them.

I probably will not bother pressing theft charges against Aurélien Guillory since I really do believe that the Montreal police force has much better things to do with their time than deal with petty theft committed by petty Montreal Unitarian U*Us. In any case it is well worth the loss of that single picket sign if it was displayed inside the Unitarian Church of Montreal for any length of time as some kind of trophy or something. Maybe I can strike a deal with U*U interior designer Aurélien Guillory that will allow him to steal my picket signs as long as he displays them to congregants inside the Unitarian Church of Montreal. ;-) The only reason that I had Kenneth Howard QC charged with theft and assault when he stole some of my picket signs in 2001 was because he was an arrogant Queen's Counsel lawyer who thought that his status as a Queen's Counsel lawyer put him above the law. I felt obliged to burst that bubble of yet another delusional U*U and Kenneth Howard QC copped a plea and was subjected to non-judicial treatment of his criminal acts against me. I will none-the-less try to retrieve the stolen picket sign from the Unitarian Church of Montreal since, if it has not left the building. . . Montreal Unitarians are once again in possession of stolen property and may even be accessories after the fact of interior designer Aurélien Guillory's petty crime.

Before skulking into the alleged Unitarian Church of Montreal with my purloined "CHURCH" OF THE "PSYCHOTIC" REACTION picket sign Aurélien Guillory blurted out that "all this negativity" would "come back" on me, no doubt referring to the "negativity" of my picket sign slogans etc. I am not sure whether or not he said that this "negativity" would "come back" on me three times though. . . I find this bold assertion of unintelligent designer Aurélien Guillory to be deliciously ironic because the picket sign that he confiscated was quite intelligently designed to ensure that the negativity of Rev. Ray Drennan's contemptuous dismissal of my revelatory religious experience as "your psychotic experience", and the related negativity of no shortage of other Unitarian*Universalist U*Us insisting that I am psychotic or otherwise seriously mentally ill, comes back to bite pathologically hypocritical Montreal Unitarian U*Us on the U*U on any given Sunday. So far. . . that has probably been well over a hundred Sundays and may even be heading towards three hundred Sundays. Makes you wonder who is really crazy doesn't it?
