The Emerson Avenger

The Emerson Avenger is a "memory hole" free blog where censorship is scorned. This blog will "guard the right to know" about any injustices and abuses that corrupt Unitarian Universalism. Posters may speak and argue freely, according to conscience, about any injustices and abuses, or indeed hypocrisy, that they may know about so that the Avenger, in the form of justice and redress, may come surely and swiftly. . . "Slowly, slowly the Avenger comes, but comes surely." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

In 1992 I underwent a profound revelatory experience of God which revealed that the total solar eclipse "Eye of God" is a "Sign in the Heavens" that symbolizes God's divine omniscience. You may read about what Rev. Ray Drennan of the Unitarian Church of Montreal contemptuously dismissed as my "psychotic experience" here: - This revelatory religious experience inspired me to propose an inter-religious celebration of Creation that would take place whenever a total solar eclipse took place over our planet. You may read about what Rev. Ray Drennan and other leading members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal falsely and maliciously labeled as a "cult" here: - I am now an excommunicated Unitarian whose "alternative spiritual practice" includes publicly exposing and denouncing Unitarian*Universalist injustices, abuses, and hypocrisy. The Emerson Avenger blog will serve that purpose for me and hopefully others will share their concerns here. Dee Miller's term DIM Thinking is used frequently and appropriately on this blog. Rev. Ray Drennan Is Servicing U*Us In Waterloo. . .

These words are from Announcements for the First Unitarian Congregation of Waterloo.

Creating Each Other - Rev. Ray Drennan

It has been said, "The future of the church is almost totally dependent on these two factors: great congregations (whether large or small) and effective, dedicated ministers. The strange feature of their relationship is that they create one another." As you begin again your search for your next settled minister let's consider together this dynamic and transformative relationship. Rev. Ray Drennan is a Unitarian Universalist minister who, after almost thirty years of ordained ministry, is the Ministerial Settlement Representative for Eastern Canada and a resource to our congregation in the search for our next minister. His services are provided to us and particularly to our future search committee by the Unitarian Universalist Association.

FUCW eh? So what would the acronym for the First Unitarian Congregation Of Kitchener be?

Interesting how the Unitarian Universalist Association appoints a known fundamentalist atheist bigot of a "Humanist" U*U minister to be the Ministerial Settlement Representative for Eastern Canada. . .

Now I Know Why U*Us Are All Wet. . .

What would Canadian U*U minister Rev. Jane Bramadat say to someone searching for a spiritual community, someone contemplating a visit First Unitarian Church of Victoria on a Sunday to see what U*Uism is about?

"Try the white-water rafting religion of Unitarian*Universalism!"

Val Bourdon aka Valmyre Bourdon Can Be A Son Of A Bitch. . .

I have already written about how the minister emeritus of the Unitarian Church of Montreal Rev. Charles Eddis once concluded one of his Sunday sermons by declaring "God can be a son of a bitch." It would appear however that most of my posts regarding that rather crude utterance of Rev. Charles Eddis have been "memory holed". . . I can only find one example left on the internet. I believe that most of the other examples were on Beliefnet and were purged along with many of my other posts to the U*U Challenge and Critique sections of Beliefnet. Well now it is time to write a little bit about how the die-hard fundamentalist atheist "Humanist" U*U Val Bourdon (aka Valmyre Bourdon) rather unfortuitously chose last Mother's Day to call The Emerson Avenger a son of a bitch. . .

Val Bourdon was approaching the Unitarian Church of Montreal with his son when I decided to take some photos of him walking on the chalk slogans that I had written on the sidewalk and trudging past the picket signs that he and other U*Us had tried so hard to get rid of by having me arrested on trumped up criminal charges in December of 2000. When he saw that I was about to take a picture of him Val Bourdon did the old splayed hand in front of face gesture and told me not to take his picture. This brought to mind how he so foolishly did the same stupid move when a CFCF 12 camera crew was reporting on my protest in the summer of 1998. Needless to say it was televised. . . I took a picture or two and informed Val Bourdon that I believed that I was within my rights taking his picture. He insisted that I was wrong and snarled, "You son of a bitch" as he passed by me. It would have been nice to have that on video but I managed to get a still shot of his angry snarl in any case.

Val Bourdon then stuck his tongue out and blew a rasberry at me. Looks like my reflexes were pretty good. . . Snap! ;-)

In that Val Bourdon was one of the Unitarian Church of Montreal's perjurious prosecution witnesses during the malicious prosecution whereby outrageously hypocritical Montreal U*Us sought to undermine my civil rights and liberties, my response to his calling me a "son of a bitch" was to assert that that pejorative term was rather more applicable to some of the members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal, including himself, and that he was not only a "son of a bitch" himself but a "perjurious son of a bitch". . . Val Bourdon fumed his way into his alleged "church" with his son vainly trying to calm him down.

Some time later a police cruiser pulled up and I was once again explaining to Montreal police officers what my protest against various U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy was all about. The police are often both bemused and amused to learn that the so-called Unitarian Church of Montreal can not only have intolerant and abusive fundamentalist atheist bigots as members of this alleged "church" but can even ordain them as U*U ministers so that they can preach Sunday sermons in which they describe God as a "non-existent being" and declare that belief in God "seems primitive". . . I reassured the police officers that the writing on the sidewalk was chalk and that Montreal U*Us would probably hose it down some time after I left.

I asked the police if they had received a complaint and they indicated that they had indeed received a complaint. I told the police that I was quite certain that everything that I was doing was quite legal and that I had been protesting in this manner for several years. The police asked me if I was taking pictures of people and I said that I was indeed documenting my protest with photographs. They told me that it was against the law to take photos of people without their permission. I responded that I was quite sure that it was legal to take photos of people and that it was only the publication of the photos that might require permission. AFAIAC Photos of people taken for personal use or "news" purposes do not require the permission of the people being photographed. I asked the police to show me the Canadian criminal law that stated that it was illegal to take photos of people without their permission with plenty of confidence that they would not be able to do so. They sat in their car for quite a while looking at their onboard computer while I continued my protest.

At a certain point Val Bourdon came out of the alleged Unitarian Church of Montreal and stood at the edge of the sidewalk waiting for the police. It became apparent that Val had called in a complaint to the police about the fact that I had taken his photo without his permission. This was quite ironic considering how I had not only allowed Val Bourdon to take dozens of pictures of me and my picket signs in the past but had even encouraged him to do so, even insisting that he take photos of some picket sign slogans that he seemed to have missed or had deliberately chosen not to photograph. . . Needless to say my subsequent cross-examination of Val Bourdon about the various picket sign slogans that he had so laboriously photographed proved to be highly educational and more than a little bit entertaining. I really must get around to posting MP3 audio files of the more educational and amusing snippets.

I decided to snap a picture or two of Val Bourdon standing waiting for the police. When I did so one of the police officers who had emerged from the car said that I could not take pictures. Somewhat surprised by this I asked him if he had found a law prohibiting taking pictures of people without their permission. He showed me his little note book of municipal bylaws and lo and behold there is a Montreal municipal bylaw on the books that prohibits taking photographs of people if they are on public property. This offence carries a $100 fine. . . I pointed out that the extremely broad way the municipal bylaw was worded made it pretty much impossible for anyone to take any pictures of anything in the city if the picture included other people in it. I pointed out that if the letter of the law was enforced that photo journalists and professional photographers taking tourism photos of Montreal, to say nothing of zillions of tourists. . . would be committing an offence practically every time they took a picture of anything in the city of Montreal. I made it clear that I would feel obliged to contest any ticket that he issued and he responded that he did not intend to issue a ticket as long as I stopped taking pictures of Val Bourdon or other U*Us who objected to my taking pictures of them. I told the police officer that I would comply for the rest of my protest for that Sunday but that I would most certainly be looking into the legality of this highly questionable municipal bylaw that I was previously completely unaware of.

I then pointed out to the police officer that the Unitarian Church of Montreal, or members thereof, had apparently hired a photographer to take pictures of my protest activities and that this photographer was breaking that rather questionable municipal bylaw every bit as much as I was by taking pictures of me and other people without obtaining our permission. Of course I had previously had no objection whatsoever to Montreal photographer Joshua Radu taking pictures of me and my picket signs and chalk slogans etc. but he was obviously taking pictures of me and other people on municipal property without permission. I pointed to Joshua Radu who was standing on the other side of de Maisonneuve boulevard and the police officer dutifully crossed the road in order to inform him that he was violating a municipal bylaw. . .

A bit later I decided to cross the road myself and join the conversation. I asked Joshua what he thought of the municipal bylaw and he indicated that he thought it was a bit dubious and problematic himself. I concurred but, just to make a point to the dim thinking U*Us at the Unitarian Church of Montreal. . . I then informed Joshua in the presence of the police officer that he no longer had my permission to take any photographs of me and that his professional photo assignment on behalf of Montreal U*Us was effectively terminated. It would be deliciously ironic if Val Bourdon was one of those DIM Thinking Montreal U*Us who had seen fit to hire Joshua Radu to document my protest activities for their dubious legal purposes. Doh!

As far as I am concerned the photos of Val Bourdon posted on The Emerson Avenger blog serve a "newsworthy" informative purpose and thus do not require his permission to be published here. If Val Bourdon believes otherwise he is most welcome to seek legal counsel about my publication of photos of his mug on my blog.

Rev. Ray Drennan Strikes Again! What A Disgrace. . . ;-)

Well it would appear that fundamentalist atheist U*U minister Rev. Ray Drennan ( aka Raymond Drennan ) is describing conditions at École Clement Cormier in Bouctouche, N.B. as a "disgrace". Sounds like the rather graceless and indeed disgraceful Rev. Ray Drennan that I know so well. . . Allow me to paraphrase and parody his latest outburst of disgraceful rhetoric -

We heard stories of U*U ministers shouting "cult" in meetings to keep out the theists, of atheists running rampant in the church, and of mould in paper-thin U*U principles," The Emerson Avenger said. "That, of course, is not good for the health of the church or the U*U "religion" alike. I think it's a disgrace."

"U*Us cannot learn, U*Us cannot possibly value religion, when the church is in such lamentable condition."

Ralph Waldo Emerson On The "Foolish Consistency" Of U*Us. . .

Thanks Ralph! ;-)

One of the two MUC police officers who arrested me earlier today on highly questionable and very flimsy criminal charges that have apparently been brought against me by paranoid Montreal U*Us reads The Emerson Avenger's chalk slogans on the sidewalk in front of the so-called Unitarian Church of Montreal.

Most appropriately one of the chalk protest slogans says -

while the picket sign says -

For the record I have no complaints whatsoever about the manner in which the two young police officers handled my arrest, which they were legally obliged to carry out due to an outstanding warrant for my arrest that dated back to November of 2006. Au contraire. . . I have high praise for the highly professional, respectful, and courteous manner in which the two young officers conducted the arrest.

More breaking news about U*U injustices and abuses,
indeed U*U criminalization of criticism and dissent,
including ongoing U*U attempts to pervert justice by misusing and abusing the Canadian Criminal Code in their deeply misguided, and outrageously hypocritical, attempts to undermine Canadian Charter guaranteed civil rights and freedoms, coming soon. . .

Click on the image to see a much larger version.

Unlike most of the U*Us I know the police officers indicated that they looked forward to seeing the photos I took of them on The Emerson Avenger blog, and even wanted to download the pictures, so I have provided larger than usual image files that the police officers can make a decent print from. The two police officers have my permission to make prints for personal use from the two files provided here.

Thanks once again for your professional and courteous service which does the MUC police force proud.

The picket sign slogan that the police officer is reading asks -

All available evidence would suggest that the question is the answer.

U*Us, Montreal Unitarian U*Us and otherwise. . .

have repeatedly demonstrated via their words and actions that they apparently believe that outrageous hypocrisy is their main policy if not their best policy.

The Silence Of The U*Us II - Clergy Sexual Misconduct

I can't help but notice that very few U*Us have posted comments to uugrrl's excellent 'Speaking Truth to Power' blog that is specifically dedicated to discussing "how Unitarian Universalists address clergy misconduct" or, more accurately. . . how the UUA, the Ministerial Fellowship Committee, and the U*U religious community more generally, abjectly fail to live up to the purported principles and purposes of U*Uism in their response to clergy misconduct. The complicit silence of the U*Us speaks volumes to me.

The False Allegations Of Jeremy Searle

I just came across a recent article in 'The West End Chronicle', a weekly newspaper that serves the Montreal suburb of N.D.G., in which Montreal U*U, and washed-up "populist" municipal politician, Jeremy Searle is accused of making false allegations by Michael Applebaum, the current mayor of N.D.G. These alleged false allegations of Jeremy Searle are really quite minor and inconsequential compared to the highly misleading and outright false allegations that he made about me in his letters and depositions to the Montreal police force in his own, and other DIM Thinking Montreal Unitarians, deeply misguided efforts to have me falsely arrested on trumped up criminal charges in order to bring an end to my peaceful public protest against U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy in front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal. In fact, Jeremy Searle's sworn testimony as a *star* U*U prosecution witness against me, during the criminal trial that followed my false arrest on dubious trumped up charges of disrupting a religious service, was not only highly misleading and peppered with various false allegations but it even contained outright fabrications that Jeremy Searle had dreamed up in his futile efforts to convince the judge that I was guilty of disrupting church services at the Unitarian Church of Montreal.

Since the online version of the article allowed for the posting of comments I took full advantage of that opportunity to expose to public view these far more serious false allegations of Jeremy Searle that include outright perjury in a court of law. Most ironically the most perjurious of the outright fabrications that Jeremy Searle dreamed up, unless of course he was in fact delusional. . . were totally irrelevant to the criminal charges that were brought against me by the police and prosecutors at the behest of Jeremy Searle and other DIM Thinking Montreal Unitarians. Simply put, even if the perjurious false allegations that Jeremy Searle made about me and my protest activities during his sworn testimony in the criminal trial were true, they would not have helped to prove the charges against me. In other words Jeremy Searle committed perjury for nothing. . .

Herewith the comments that I made in response to the article in the West End Chronicle.

Jeremy Searle's Foot In Mouth Disease

Jeremy Searle is one of those third-rate "populist" politicians who fit the following saying that I came up with decades ago to describe another municipal politician -

I don't know if he keeps putting his foot in his mouth because his mouth is so big or his mouth is so big because he keeps putting his foot in it. . .

Jeremy Searle's alleged false allegations in this matter pale in comparison to other highly misleading or blatantly false allegations that he has made in the past, to say nothing of other examples of foot-in-mouth disease such as his apparently racist "black dog" gaffe of some years ago. . .

In depositions that he made to Montreal police in his and other Montreal Unitarians' deeply misguided efforts to have me falsely arrested on trumped up criminal charges in order to censor and suppress my ongoing protests against Unitarian aka U*U injustices, abuses, and hypocrisy, Jeremy Searle falsely accused me of "hate speech" and "hate crime". Jeremy Searle was one of the Unitarian Church of Montreal's *star* prosecution witnesses during the criminal trial that resulted from my false arrest on totally spurious criminal charges that my peaceful public protest activities outside of the so-called Unitarian Church of Montreal on any given Sunday disrupted religious services at said alleged "church".

Jeremy Searle's sworn testimony in criminal court contained highly misleading and even completely false allegations. Jeremy Searle dreamed up complete fabrications about my conduct during my peaceful protest activities. There is a word for making false allegations during sworn testimony in a court of law. That word is perjury. In have seriously considered trying to bring perjury charges against Jeremy Searle for his highly misleading and outright false sworn testimony as a prosecution witness against me. As far as I am concerned he is also guilty of knowingly and willfully misleading the Montreal police force in his written depositions.

There is no question that Jeremy Searle pressured the MUC police to have me arrested. It is abundantly clear from the letters and depositions that Jeremy Searle made to the MUC police which were provided to me as part of the Crown's dubious evidence against me that he made highly msileading and outright false statements to the police. I can't help but wonder if Jeremy Searle misused and abused his power and influence as a Montreal city councillor in his deeply misguided efforts to undermine and abrogate my constitutionally guaranteed right to peaceful public protest and I suggested as much during the criminal trial.

In the end truth and justice prevailed and I was rightfully acquitted of the totally spurious criminal charges that Jeremy Searle and other outrageously hypocritical members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal were responsible for bringing against me. The trial recordings are really quite amusing and I do get a chuckle out of listening to Jeremy Searle making an U*U out of himself in criminal court during his sworn testimony. I am tempted to post the most entertaining snippets to the internet so that others may share in the fun.

Jeremy Searle prides himself in being Montreal's "Pothole Czar" but as far as I am concerned one of the biggest potholes in Montreal is the one between Jeremy Searle's ears. . .

Rev. Diane Rollert Presents A Telling Indictment Of The Unitarian *Community* Of Montreal. . .

"It's not just what we do, but what we don't do that tells us a lot about who we are as a community."

Rev. Diane Rollert quoted from the May NU*USLETTER of the Unitarian Church of Montreal

No kidding Diane. . . I seem to recall that you and the Montreal U*U community, to say nothing of the UUA and the greater Unitarian Universalist "religious community" aka the U*U World, don't do justice, don't do equity, don't do compassion in human relations, don't do a genuinely free and responsible search for the truth and meaning behind my picket sign slogans and other protest activities, and that your U*U community seems to be chronically unready, obstinately unwilling, and is apparently even pathologically unable to *do* most of the other purported principles and purposes of the U*U community along with what you and other U*Us call "waging peace".

Now just what do U*Us, Montreal U*Us or otherwise. . . *do* as a community? Well rather too many U*Us mock and ridicule other people's religious beliefs and practices and the U*U *community* turns a blind eye to such anti-religious intolerance and bigotry. The Montreal U*U community, and the U*U "religious community" more generally, egregiously censors and suppresses legitimate criticism and dissent, even to the point of having people falsely arrested on trumped up criminal charges. . . As my picket sign slogans clearly state the Montreal U*U community, and indeed the greater U*U "religious community" as represented by the UUA, *do* support abusive clergy. U*Us, as a community, *do* turn a blind eye to clergy misconduct of various kinds, including clergy sexual misconduct of various kinds.

I could go on but I do believe that all the foregoing, and plenty of other injustices, abuses, and hypocrisy committed by U*Us does indeed tell the public quite a lot about who U*Us are as a community. . .

Censorship And Hypocrisy In The U*U "Religious Community"

James Andrix aka the Indrax troll has accused me of "censorship and hypocrisy" in his off-topic SPAM comments to the previous post below this one and he has demanded that I apologize for this alleged "censorship and hypocrisy". At least within the U*U World. . . it is open to some debate as to whether or not I have engaged in actual censorship of James Andrix' posts. In my initial response to his off-topic SPAM post I had made it clear that any further debate of James Andrix' accusations of "censorship and hypocrisy" should be continued in the U*U Hole but I have now decided that the issue of censorship and hypocrisy in the U*U World is worthy of a brand-spanking new thread of its own. I am hereby inviting, indeed I am hereby challenging. . . James Andrix to come and present his case as to just how I am guilty of "censorship and hypocrisy". This "censorship and hypocrisy" thread should get quite interesting indeed. I predict that James Andrix aka indrax will soon be chowing down on his own words and eating crow once again. . .
