Pope Leo XIV And Unitarian Universalist Clergy Sex Abuse Cover-Up Efforts - What's The Connection?

How about this little Bluesky post of mine which responds to this little Bluesky post of one Lux Alptraum just for starters?

 


I hear your complaints about the pope but if you want a pope who has never said anything homophobic and has never covered up sex abuse I think what you actually want is a Unitarian minister

 

LOL! You clearly don't know much about ministers aka . Hundreds are at least passively complicit in cover-up and denial of that includes child rape, but dozens have actively concealed in one way or another.  

 

One B. A. Jacobs chimed in saying -

True, and I’m not sure about all Unitarian ministers. The Catholic Church hierarchy — notice I said “hierarchy,” not “the church and everyone in it” — is a corrupt, white-centered, male-ruled, racist, colonizer-friendly, sexually pathological throwback. This latest is an outrage but not a surprise. 

To which I responded -

Not only am I sure that some ministers are directly involved in covering-up aka , I can name and shame a bunch. . .

Those who are not actively involved in the minimization, cover-up, & denial are in it.  

 

 


Another person posted a link to A Brief History of Unitarian Universalist Clergy Sexual Misconduct by Sky Williams to which Lux responded - 

I mean yes, sex abuse is everywhere

 

I responded to that admission by saying -

It's not just the itself that's the problem. Unitarian Universalists, including top-level leadership and go to extreme & foolish lengths to minimize, cover-up, & even officially deny that includes .

 

 


 

What I find interesting about this exchange arising out of Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost being elected Pope Leo XIV by his fellow Roman Catholic cardinals is that two other people chimed in expressing their skepticism about Unitarian ministers aka UUA clergy not covering up clergy sexual abuse committed by their colleagues. . .
