Neighborhood Unitarian Universalist Church And U*U Clergy Misconduct Cover-Up Efforts - What's The Connection?
Yesterday around noon I tried to find a livestream video of the First Unitarian*Universalist "Church" of Houston, but there was none to be found on YouTube. There were however a few livestream videos of services at other U*U "churches" and I noticed that, while most if not all of them had comments closed, some livestreams had the Live Chat function open. So I decided to call attention to past and ongoing UUA mishandling, cover-up, denial and minimization of clergy misconduct and remind U*Us about the National Conversation On Clergy Misconduct that was supposed to happen in the mid-2000s, but never really took place.
One of the U*U "churches" I shared my concerns with was Neighborhood Unitarian*Universalist Church, in Pasadena California. I posted several messages in the Live Chat of this video of its Sunday service, which you probably can't see if you click on the link, because *someone* at Neighborhood Unitarian*Universalist Church set the whole video to 'private' to hide it from public view. . .
Before setting the video of its Sunday service to 'private', *someone* disabled the live chat function to prevent me from saying any more about past, and apparently ongoing. . . Unitarian*Universalist mishandling and cover-up of clergy misconduct that includes child sex abuse. Here are the four concerns that I was able to share in the live chat before someone at Neighborhood Unitarian Universalist Church, possibly the person delivering the sermon himself. . . stuffed a virtual sock in my mouth by 'disabling' the live chat function.
When
will Unitarian Universalists pay special attention to the injustices
& abuses inflicted on the most marginalized people in UUA
congregations. i.e. victims of Unitarian Universalist clergy abuse?
I
don't see Unitarian Universalists doing much to heal all the wounds
inflicted on people by abusive UUA clergy. Au contraire, most Unitarian
Universalists prefer to bury their heads in the sand. . .
What
happened to that National Conversation On Clergy Misconduct that was
supposed to take place in the mid-2010s? Yes, there were some UU World
articles etc., but not *national* conversation.
Unitarian Universalists, including top-level UUA leaders, & most UUA clergy,
choose to do little or nothing to properly redress UU clergy misconduct,
& try to conceal it & minimize it instead.
When
will Unitarian Universalists do what is necessary to provide long ago
promised, and long overdue. . . restorative justice for ALL victims of
ALL forms of clergy misconduct?
end quote
I made a point of referencing words and phrases spoken by the person delivering the sermon, such as "paying special attention" and "healing ALL the wounds". . . Clearly the person who prevented me from sharing any more of my concerns about Unitarian*Universalist clergy misconduct by disabling the live chat function of the livestream was not interested in paying any attention to what I was saying, nor did they want anyone else to pay attention to my legitimate concerns, and they quite evidently interested in healing any of the "wounds" arising out of clergy misconduct, including the self-inflicted "wounds" that occur when U*Us try to conceal clergy misconduct in one way or another.
As it happens. . . Neighborhood Unitarian*Universalist Church is one of the U*U "churches" that was served by Mr. Gregory C. Carrow-Boyd, CRE–LL, who was its Interim Director of Religious Education starting in August 2015. I made no mention of sexual misconduct committed by U*U lay leaders such as Religious Education teachers and camp counselors etc. in my four "chats", nor did I mention child sex abuse committed by pedophile*rapist UUA clergy or pedophile*rapist U*U lay leaders, but apparently *someone* at NU*UC decided that my words calling upon Unitarian*Universalists to pay special attention to clergy misconduct committed by UUA clergy, and work towards healing the wounds, were quite UNwelcome. . .
