Minister resigns over plagiarized sermons
Apr 29, 2007 7:42 AM EST
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- A Providence minister who plagiarized sermons has resigned in order to avoid a divisive vote on whether to bring him back.
The Reverend Donald Cameron was installed as minister of the First Unitarian Church in Providence just five months ago.
His plagiarism was exposed when a church member tried to download one of his recent sermons from the Internet.
The church member found Cameron's sermon was almost identical to a sermon delivered by the Reverend Richard Gilbert in Rochester, New York, in 1997.
More investigation found Cameron plagiarized at least two other sermons.
Cameron said he was humbled by the love and forgiveness parishioners have shown him. But he said he was troubled by the anger and pain he caused, and stepped down to avoid more problems.

Comments
I'd also like to give you an opportunity to apologize for your recent censorship and hypocrisy.
Have I actually engaged in censorship indrax aka James Andrix? Does it really constitute censorship to simply remove your off-topic SPAM comments and questions and relegate them to the U*U Hole where they are available for anyone to read if they choose to do so? I am very confident that plenty of U*Us would argue that the simple act of moving your SPAM comments to another thread where they may be read does not actually constitute censorship. Of course it may be that such U*Us are DIM Thinking hypocrites who engage in various forms of censorship themselves. . . ;-) Feel free to respond to this in the U*U Hole since the issue of censorship is off-topic to this thread which is clearly dedicated to plagiarism committed by U*U ministers.
