The Emerson Avenger

The Emerson Avenger is a "memory hole" free blog where censorship is scorned. This blog will "guard the right to know" about any injustices and abuses that corrupt Unitarian Universalism. Posters may speak and argue freely, according to conscience, about any injustices and abuses, or indeed hypocrisy, that they may know about so that the Avenger, in the form of justice and redress, may come surely and swiftly. . . "Slowly, slowly the Avenger comes, but comes surely." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

In 1992 I underwent a profound revelatory experience of God which revealed that the total solar eclipse "Eye of God" is a "Sign in the Heavens" that symbolizes God's divine omniscience. You may read about what Rev. Ray Drennan of the Unitarian Church of Montreal contemptuously dismissed as my "psychotic experience" here: http://revelationisnotsealed.homestead.com - This revelatory religious experience inspired me to propose an inter-religious celebration of Creation that would take place whenever a total solar eclipse took place over our planet. You may read about what Rev. Ray Drennan and other leading members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal falsely and maliciously labeled as a "cult" here: http://creationday.homestead.com - I am now an excommunicated Unitarian whose "alternative spiritual practice" includes publicly exposing and denouncing Unitarian*Universalist injustices, abuses, and hypocrisy. The Emerson Avenger blog will serve that purpose for me and hopefully others will share their concerns here. Dee Miller's term DIM Thinking is used frequently and appropriately on this blog. Will UUA President Peter Morales And U*Us U*U Worldwide Honor Senator Ted Kennedy By Working On Behalf Of Those Who U*Us Have Marginalized?

Just asking. . .

Here is a President Peter Morales quote that I just "mined" from the Worcester Telegram & Gazette newspaper article about the reactions of diverse religious leaders to Senator Edward Kennedy's death by Bronislaus B. Kush headlined 'Church leaders laud Kennedy' -

Peter Morales, president of the Unitarian Universalist Association, said Mr. Kennedy’s work inspired Americans of many faith traditions.

"Sen. Kennedy had a gift for reaching out to religious people and lifting up our shared commitment to equality and the betterment of humanity," he said. "We can honor Sen. Kennedy by carrying forward his legacy of working on behalf of those who are marginalized in this country."

Wouldn't it be nice if U*Us in positions of responsibility at the UUA and the Unitarian Church of Montreal actually made a reasonable effort to triumph over their own serious failings which have caused me to be marginalized by U*Us for over a decade now? Wouldn't it be nice if U*Us throughout the U*U World also made a serious effort to work on behalf of ALL of those *other* good people who have been, and indeed still are. . . actively or passively *marginalized* by many "less than perfect" U*Us in the U*U World for one reason or another?

Edward Kennedy aka Ted Kennedy U.S. Senator Or Unitarian*Universalist Saint aka U*U Saint?

Just asking. . . :-)

Can't hurt to ask again though, or again, and yet again.

I had meant to blog something like this earlier today but as it turned out a conservative U*U blogger by the name of Bill Baar gave me the push minutes ago. . .

Here is the comment that I left on Bill Baar's Pfarrer Streccius blog -

"Fellow Worker Murf and myself the only UU's I know who were into the Red Lifestyle. It was a lifestyle. It was a Religion. We had a hymnal. We had saints."

Actually, as a result of viewing the numerous blog posts about the death of Senator Edward Kennedy, it occurred to me earlier today that Ted Kennedy might be something akin to a U*U saint. . . I guess they don't call Unitarian*Universalism "the religious arm of the Democratic Party" for nothing. ;-)

Is Reverend Doctor aka Rev. Dr. An Appropriate Title For Former UUA President Rev. Dr. John Buehrens and/or Rev. Dr. Tracey Robinson-Harris?

To say nothing of some other considerably "less than excellent" U*U Reverend Doctors I have the misfortune to know. . . Apparently someone from Charlotte, North Carolina, just asked Google. . .

Update: Thors Day August 27, 2009 -

Oh dear. . .

It would appear that the Reverend Doctor Eric Theodore Cartman III is giving the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. a run for his money. At least when it comes to page rankings in a Google search for the truth and meaning of the honorific title Reverend Doctor. . . :-)

The Coors Light Colder Than Most People From Toronto Billboard Advertising Campaign Didn't Go Over So Well With Most People From Toronto. . .

Update: All you good people from Toronto who are visiting the TEA blog thanks to its high ranking in (in)appropriate Google searches for information about the Coors Light Toronto*nian bashing marketing coup cum public relations disaster will probably like the modified images of the "less than cool" Coors Light billboard ads that I posted to the Occam's Zweihänder blog last night. Feel free to grab them and spread them around the internet a bit but I would appreciate it if you let people know where you found them. Now back to corpse-cold Unitarians. . .

But it *could* be a great marketing coup for not only most Toronto Unitarians aka Toronto U*Us but corpse-cold Unitarians U*U World-wide if the Canadian Unitarian Council aka CUC and/or the Unitarian*Universalist Association of Congregations aka the UUA can persuade Molson*Coors Canada to change its rather "less than cool" (with most people from Toronto anyway. . .) Coors Light billboard advertising slogan -

COLDER THAN MOST PEOPLE FROM TORONTO

to

COLDER THAN MOST CORPSE-COLD UNITARIANS

I see this bold marketing ploy as a classic win*win situation for both Coors Light pseudo-beer and corpse*cold Unitarian*Universalism, especially if a whole bunch of corpse*cold Unitarian U*Us scream bloody murder when the Coors Light billboards go up and force Molson*Coors to kill the "less than cool" advertising campaign thus reaping a whole lot of national and even international free publicity for both Coors Light pseudo-beer and *the* tiny declining fringe religion known as Unitarian*Universalism aka The U*U Movement.

I mean *any* publicity is good publicity.

No U*Us? :-)

Come to think of it. . .

Unitarian*Universalism could take a cue from a famous Canada Dry ginger ale marketing slogan -

The Champagne of Ginger Ales

and henceforth market itself as -

The Coors Light Of Religions. :-)

Well look at that!

Molson*Coors Canada puts the UUA, the Unitarian Church of Montreal and any number of other corpse*cold Unitarians to shame when it comes to publicly apologizing for offending ANYONE. . .

A Unitarian*Universalist Is Sentenced To One Year Of Probation And 300 Hours Of Trash Removal On Public Lands For The Crime Of "Knowingly Littering"

According to a 'Unitarian Universalists In The Media' report by Sonja L. Cohen posted to the UU World website titled -

UU aid worker gets one-year probation for 'knowingly littering'

Walt Staton, a 27-year-old UU who was convicted of “knowingly littering” for leaving water jugs in the southern Arizona desert, was sentenced to serve one year of unsupervised probation and complete 300 hours of trash removal on public lands. Staton is part of No More Deaths, a humanitarian aid group that gives aid to migrants walking across the desert.

The original Arizona Daily Star story by Brian J. Pedersen titled -

Tucson man sentenced in border water jugs case

reports that - Walt Staton, 27, was convicted June 3 in U.S. District Court of knowingly littering on a national wildlife refuge following a two-day jury trial. He was cited last December when U.S. Border Patrol agents spotted him placing unopened gallon containers of water in the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge southwest of Tucson. He must also also complete 300 hours of trash removal on public lands and is banned from the refuge during his yearlong probation.

So it would seem that Walt has had the equivalent of a yearlong restraining order preventing him from entering the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge imposed against him as well. That seems to be fairly harsh punishment for what would appear to be a humanitarian act on Walt's part. I am sure that plenty of other U*Us could be much more justifiably charged with, if not convicted of. . . the federal crime of "knowingly littering" for rather less noble causes. In fact I have some rather incriminating U*UTube video of a certain Totalitarian Unitarian known as U*U COP "knowingly littering" de Maisonneuve boulevard with my picket signs a while back. . .

Dead Men Tell No Tales Nor Do They Make Confessions, Issue Retractions, Or Offer Apologies. . .

The apparently quite sudden death Rev. Dr. Timothy W. Jensen last Sunday morning took me by surprise, especially in light of his own suggestion that he "may very well be able to look forward to many, many years of a reasonably healthy, energetic, fun, loving, and even productive lifestyle," even though "the long-range trend is down" on the first of this month. Late last week I had taken the first concrete steps towards filing a formal clergy misconduct complaint against Rev. Jensen for repeatedly insulting and defaming me on the internet, to say nothing of apparently plagiarizing my original words and ideas, and I had been in contact with some of my advisers about how best to proceed in that matter, but I guess that there is not much point in filing a posthumous clergy misconduct complaint against a deceased U*U minister. I only found out about Rev. Tim Jensen's death at around 3pm yesterday afternoon, soon after responding to an email regarding my intention to file a complaint against him. I believe that it was Rev. Kit Ketchum's blog post titled 'Rest in Peace, dear Tim' that first caught my attention yesterday afternoon but I saw and read other blog posts such as ChaliceChick's RIP Tim Jensen post and Jess Cullinan's 'Mourning the Eclectic Cleric' post, which proffered the very good advice -

"Another reminder to not take a single moment for granted."

at more or less the same time. The blog post titled 'From Tim's Youngest Brother Erik' on Rev. Jensen's 'One Day Isle' "cancer journal" weblog confirmed the news of Rev. Tim Jensen's unexpected death.

Out of respect for Rev. Tim Jensen's mourning family and friends I will not be posting a couple of blog posts about our online "pissing match" that I had intended to post last week but which were delayed by other priorities. I do not intend to make any new posts here about our online conflict for at least a couple of weeks, nor do I intend to proceed with my formal unbecoming conduct / clergy misconduct complaint against Rev. Dr. Tim Jensen unless some compelling reason convinces me that it really is in my own and other people's best interests to do so. The main point of filing a formal clergy misconduct complaint against Rev. Tim Jensen was to make yet another attempt to persuade the UUA and its ever so aptly named Ministerial *Fellowship* Committee to properly hold U*U ministers accountable when they insult and defame people on the internet or in "real life" (as it were), rather than turning a willfully blind eye to their "less than excellent" ministry or even go so far as to pretend that their unbecoming conduct, or even worse clergy misconduct, is "within the appropriate guidelines of ministerial leadership". As it happens there are a few other living U*U ministers who can still serve that purpose well enough even though Rev. Tim Jensen's well documented insults and defamation presented a pretty solid case against him. . .

Rev. Dr. Timothy W. Jensen's unfortunate "legacy" of online "rants" is available for all to see unless his friends and relatives decide to "memory hole" his original blog posts and blog comments etc. Even if they do cover up and hide his more embarrassing blog posts and comments much of his online ranting has already been reproduced here and will not be "memory holed". No doubt Rev. Jensen's recent death will mean that more people will become aware of his "less than excellent" ministry now than might otherwise have been the case.

For Rev. Tim Jensen's sake, as much as my own, I regret that our online conflict aka "pissing match" never reached a satisfactory resolution before his untimely death and still remains unresolved. Had Rev. Dr. Timothy W. Jensen taken a moment or two to responsibly retract his insulting and defamatory allegations about me, and offer an acceptable apology for making them, those words and actions would have gone a long way to restoring (or creating) right relations between us, but Rev. Tim Jensen quite evidently had other priorities in his life and took *those* conflict resolving, aka peacemaking, aka right relations restoring moments for granted.

I had hoped, and still hope, that our online conflict would serve as what U.S. President Barack Obama might call a "teachable moment" that Unitarian*Universalists in general, and U*U clergy in particular, might learn from. I believe that with Rev. Tim Jensen's sudden death last Sunday our unresolved conflict is none-the-less something of a "teachable moment" for U*Us, albeit a somewhat different one than I had envisioned and hoped for. May this TEA blog post serve as yet another reminder to Unitarian*Universalists not take a single moment for granted when it comes to responsibly resolving conflicts within the U*U World in a manner that actually honors and upholds the purported principles and ideals of Unitarian*Universalism.

Such is life aka "So it goes". . .

A Rather Pathetic Unitarian*Universalist U*U Troll Spent More Than Half An Hour Spamming This Blog This Morning. . .

I got quite a chuckle this morning when I checked my email only to see the first page of my inbox completely filled with automated announcements that someone had posted a comment to an Emerson Avenger blog post. Gotta laugh at a cowardly anonymouse U*U troll who spends more than a half-hour of their life posting the message -

U R PATHETIC

to about 30 different TEA blog posts.

Well I do hope this quite pathetic anonymous U*U troll enjoyed his and/or her breakfast this morning because I love to feed trolls. . .

Heck I LOVE the smell of big fat U*U SPAM in the morning!

UUA President Peter Morales YouTube Video Of His "Stump Speech" Announcing His Candidacy For President Of The UUA Has Been "Memory Holed". . .

That's right U*Us. I just discovered earlier today that the YouTube video of Rev. Peter Morales' Sunday sermon of January 13, 2008 which was delivered at the Jefferson Unitarian Church in Golden, Colorado, and during which he announced his candidacy for president of the UUA, is no longer available to be viewed on YouTube. Well at least the written text / transcript of Rev. Peter Morales' rather problematic 'A Religion For Our Time' sermon cum "stump speech" is still available to be read on the website of the Jefferson Unitarian Church of Golden, Colorado, for the time being. . . The "memory holing of this historic U*UTube video means that the following comments which I posted to it months ago have conveniently disappeared from the interconnected and interdependent web of the internet as well. . . Thankfully they have already been preserved for U*U posteriority on the TEA blog in a blog post titled 'Rev. Peter Morales' YouTube Video Announcing His Candidacy For President Of The UUA Has Had Only 674 Views Since January 23, 2008. . .' One more time for good measure, here are the questions that I posed to Rev. Peter Morales that he has failed to provide the slightest response to so far. . .

So Peter what do you intend to do to address the hatred, injustice, prejudice, ignorance and fear that pervades the U*U World?

When will you and other U*Us provide genuine justice, equity and compassion to victims of U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy?

How much openness and acceptance of God believing people can there be in the U*U World when intolerant fundamentalist atheist "Humanist" U*Us, including U*U clergy, are allowed to insult and abuse God believing people with complete impunity?

Here is the follow-up comment that I posted seven months later, i.e. about three months ago now, after Rev. Morales failed, or simply refused, to answer those questions -

A hate to have to say so Rev. Morales but, as things currently stand, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been rather more forthcoming and forthright in answering some rather lame questions posed to him by current UUA President Bill Sinkford than you have been in answering these and other legitimate questions and concerns posed to you by me and other people. Do you really want President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to appear to be a more forthcoming and forthright leader than you? I would hope not.

end quote

"Memory holing" embarrassing, or at least potentially embarrassing. . . YouTube videos does nothing to answer these and other questions about Rev. Peter Morales', now UUA President Peter Morales', personal position(s) vis à vis what he calls "old religions" and even writes off as "obsolete religions". Au contraire, such "memory holing" of questionable U*UTube videos tends to raise more questions than it hides. . .

Anti-Republican Hate In Unitarian*Universalism - How Much Capital 'H' Hate Is There For Republicans And Other Conservatives In The U*U World Anyway?

Because someone somewhere in "The Land of the Free" went looking for UU anti-Republican hate on the interconnected and remarkably interdependent web of the internet today, and proceeded to spend the better part of an hour browsing through The Emerson Avenger blog. . .

Banned In Boston By The UUA Board Of Trustees Of All Things. . .

This week's 'UU Trivia Question of the Week' in Jeff Wilson's 'Transient And Permanent' blog is about Banned UUA Board Terminology.

Lends a whole new meaning to the term 'Banned In Boston' doesn't it?

Jeff Wilson writes, "We usually think of Unitarian-Universalism as synonymous with freedom of conscience and expression. However, there is a notable exception. No less than the Board of Trustees of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations banned the use of a term from its meetings, and even went so far as to levy monetary fines against any members who used it. This week’s UU trivia question is: what is the term that they banned?"

I hate to burst Jeff Wilson's big fat U*U bubble but, whereas Unitarian*Universalists aka U*Us might like to wishfully think that Unitarian*Universalism aka The U*U Movement aka *The* Tiny Declining Fringe Religion is synonymous with freedom of conscience, freedom of speech, and freedom of expression, the banning of the use of one as yet unidentified word by the UUA Board of Trustees is far from being the only "notable exception" to Unitarian*Universalism's increasingly dubious and questionable association with freedom of conscience, freedom of speech, and freedom of other forms of expression. Heck, it is suitably ironic that Jeff Wilson himself censored the perfectly on-topic albeit "snark" comment that I posted in a waggish poke at the anti-religious intolerance and bigotry that is all too obvious and apparently still prevalent in The U*U Movement. Yes, needless to say, I am the alleged "frequent spammer" who asked if the term was 'God'. I am glad to hear that Jeff *appreciated* the snark.

It seems to me that your's truly has been banned in Boston or, more properly aka truthfully and accurately, banned *by* Boston. I seem to recall having been permanently banned from participating in any and all UUA sponsored email lists for daring to name the names of some "less than excellent" U*U ministers, most notably Rev. Ray Drennan and Rev. Diane Miller, and asking some pointed questions about alleged Nazi ideologues being leaders of the Deutsche Unitarier Religionsgemeinschaft and former SS officer Sigrid Hunke's Bund Deutscher Unitarier Religionsgemeinschaft Europaischen Geistes split away group. UUA President Peter Morales is on record as saying that 25 Beacon Street "reeks of privilege and hierarchy", allow me to add that UUA headquarters at 25 Beacon Street in Boston MA also reeks of corruption and hypocrisy. . .

For the record here is the follow-up comment that I just submitted to Jeff Wilson -

Was it the N-word?

If so, why did it need to be expressly banned by the UUA Board of Trustees?

Preemptive striking from the record?

More later. . .

Committee For Accuracy In Middle East Reporting In America Says Rev. Tim Kutzmark Is Free With The Truth About Israel But Not Responsible With It. . .

When Unitarian*Universalists make highly misleading or outright false statements of various kinds I often play off the words of the fourth of Unitarian*Universalism's Seven Principles which calls for -

A free and responsible search for truth and meaning

By pointing out how these "less than honest", or at least "less than truthful", U*Us are being very free with the truth but far from responsible with it. It seems that the Committee For Accuracy In Middle East Reporting In America aka CAMERA has decided to use much the same hypocrisy exposing wordplay in an article titled UUA Pastor Remembers the Holocaust, Ignores the Hate which accuses Unitarian*Universalist minister Rev. Tim Kutzmark, the "pastor" of the Unitarian*Universalist Church of Reading, Massachusetts, of being free with the truth but not responsible with it with regard to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Middle East.

The CAMERA article begins thusly -

One oft-cited principle of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Churches is a commitment to the “free and responsible search for truth and meaning.” Unfortunately, the preaching of Rev. Tim Kutzmark, who leads the UUA church in Reading, Massachusetts, fails to meet this standard. His commentary about the conflict is free, but not responsible.

In particular, Rev. Kutzmark, who has preached on how Christian anti-Semitism laid the groundwork for the Holocaust in Europe, ignores altogether the role Muslim attitudes toward Jews play in fomenting violence against Israel. He portrays Israeli policies as a delayed and misplaced response to the Holocaust and not a response to the threats currently faced by the Israeli people. He also portrays Zionism as a racist and colonialist cause whose leaders are intent on perpetrating a genocide against the Palestinian people.

One hint of how far Rev. Kutzmark is willing to go to denigrate Israel is his decision to show his congregation Occupation 101, a dishonest, propagandistic film that distorts essential facts of history and depicts the Arab-Israeli conflict as solely the fault of Israel.

Additionally, the pastor has portrayed Palestinian leaders – who have routinely trafficked in anti-Semitic propaganda and have repeatedly called for Israel’s destruction – as if they are the Middle East’s answer to Martin Luther King, a man who engaged in non-violent protest to achieve civil rights for African Americans in the United States.

The overall effect of Rev. Kutzmark’s narrative is to depict anti-Zionism, or hostility toward Jewish sovereignty and self-determination, as a legitimate and progressive cause in the U.S.

end quote

I suppose how responsible with the truth and accurate CAMERA itself is being in its own reporting may be open to some debate, but I guess that only a free and genuinely *responsible* search for the truth and meaning of this CAMERA article will determine its truthfulness and meaning. I hereby invite Unitarian*Universalists to enter into *that* particular free and responsible search for the truth by reading the article in full and doing the appropriate follow-up.

Unitarian Universalists Have Violated Me, Oppressed Me, Excluded Me And Have Had Me Arrested On Bogus Criminal Charges Simply For Being Who I Am

In an article entitled The Stories Below The Fold A Reflection on Henry Louis Gates posted on the UUA's Standing On The Side Of Love campaign blog Rev. Meg Riley, the director of Advocacy & Witness at the Unitarian Universalist Association aka UUA, says the following -

This experience haunts me now, with Henry Louis Gates’ arrest for being in his own house on the front page. The fact that it happened is not what is surprising. The fact that it is noteworthy is. Both Gates and Shepard could pull on other privilege besides the identity that caused them to be targeted: privilege of class, of connection, of being the exemplary person.

Don’t misread me, I am delighted that the media is paying attention to both of these stories. It’s just that 99 times out of 100, the victim’s profile is more complicated and they don’t have standing to get noticed. We’re all complicated. Some voices online would try to paint even Gates as a person who deserved what he got.

The truth is that no one deserves to be violated, to be arrested, to be oppressed, to be excluded, simply for being who they are. That includes everyone I like and a heck of a lot of folks I don’t.

end quote

I don't know if Rev. Meg Riley likes me or not but here is the comment that I just submitted in response to her words. It will be interesting to see if the "moderator" aka censor of the Standing On The Side Of Love blog will stand on the side of love for that comment by releasing it from "moderation" so that people may read it. It will be similarly interesting to see if the version of that comment that I successfully submitted to the Standing On The Side Of Love campaign's Facebook site does not get "memory holed" as some of my other comments have been "disappeared" by U*U censors -

"The truth is that no one deserves to be violated, to be arrested, to be oppressed, to be excluded, simply for being who they are."

The truth is that I do not deserve to be verbally and physically violated by U*Us, to be oppressed by U*Us, to be excluded by U*Us, and even unjustly arrested on bogus criminal charges at the behest of U*Us simply for being who I am, but that is exactly what has happened. What U*Us have done to me makes the arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr. for Disorderly Conduct look like a cakewalk. When do I get invited by UUA President Peter Morales to a "Beer Summit" at 25 Beacon Street to discuss the oppression and exclusion that I and to many other people who believe in God have been subjected to by intolerant and abusive "fundamentalist atheist" U*U Humanists? When will victims of clergy misconduct of all kinds finally receive the restorative justice for ALL that the UUA promised about a decade ago but has failed to deliver?

"Don’t misread me, I am delighted that the media is paying attention to both of these stories."

Glad to hear that Meg. Here's my story as published in the Montreal Mirror alternative weekly newspaper -

Arrested - http://www.montrealmirror.com/ARCHIVES/2000/120700/news5.html

Acquitted - http://www.montrealmirror.com/ARCHIVES/2003/121103/front.html

Background - http://www.montrealmirror.com/ARCHIVES/1998/060498/news5.html

There's more to it than that so just Google -

Unitarians had "Robin Edgar" arrested

If you want to engage in a free and responsible search for the truth and meaning behind my being arrested on bogus criminal charges by Montreal Unitarian U*Us for daring to publicly protest against the anti-religious intolerance and bigotry that I encountered at the Unitarian Church of Montreal.
