The Emerson Avenger

The Emerson Avenger is a "memory hole" free blog where censorship is scorned. This blog will "guard the right to know" about any injustices and abuses that corrupt Unitarian Universalism. Posters may speak and argue freely, according to conscience, about any injustices and abuses, or indeed hypocrisy, that they may know about so that the Avenger, in the form of justice and redress, may come surely and swiftly. . . "Slowly, slowly the Avenger comes, but comes surely." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

In 1992 I underwent a profound revelatory experience of God which revealed that the total solar eclipse "Eye of God" is a "Sign in the Heavens" that symbolizes God's divine omniscience. You may read about what Rev. Ray Drennan of the Unitarian Church of Montreal contemptuously dismissed as my "psychotic experience" here: http://revelationisnotsealed.homestead.com - This revelatory religious experience inspired me to propose an inter-religious celebration of Creation that would take place whenever a total solar eclipse took place over our planet. You may read about what Rev. Ray Drennan and other leading members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal falsely and maliciously labeled as a "cult" here: http://creationday.homestead.com - I am now an excommunicated Unitarian whose "alternative spiritual practice" includes publicly exposing and denouncing Unitarian*Universalist injustices, abuses, and hypocrisy. The Emerson Avenger blog will serve that purpose for me and hopefully others will share their concerns here. Dee Miller's term DIM Thinking is used frequently and appropriately on this blog. How about "Unitarians Affirm and Promote Bullies and Bullying" - you need a sign that says that too.

Because I have seen it, and been the victim of it.

I am going to use a "pen name" for now because I sort of fear retaliation if it got out that I posted this here. At least on a legal level.

It's funny you should say that since I was actually thinking about creating a picket sign slogan saying -

UNITARIAN BULLYING SUCKS U*U

earlier today. :-)

I will give consideration to your version of the picket sign slogan and would be interested in hearing more about what you have experienced in terms of U*U bullying. Needless to say I have experienced a fair bit of U*U bullying myself.

Feel free to continue to use your pseudonym I will only "out" those who post insulting and abusive comments.

Yeah, just some kind of sign that indicates that UUs tolerate bullies.

It's funny, how they go on and on about "tolerance" and "acceptance" but don't REALLY practice it.

I'll consider sending you my story. But you'll be really shocked when you see who I am. You won't believe it. And you might not agree with my position on the issue that started all this.

I am not easily shocked in any cvase FUUW but, after what I have experienced with outrageously hypocritical U*Us over the last decade and a half, there is very little that would shock me about U*Us these days. I have pretty much seen it all, as some of the blog posts here should make clear. I am not sure why you think that I would not believe who you are.

You can contact me privately and confidentially at the email address provided in the comment form if you wish, or you can submit your story pseudonymously as a comment here.

"It's funny, how they go on and on about "tolerance" and "acceptance" but don't REALLY practice it."

Indeed too many U*Us fail quite miserably to walk what they talk, and not just in terms of tolerance and acceptance. U*Us have repeatedly made a total mockery of their claimed principles and ideals in my own bitter experience and observation and obstinately continue to do so even after their hypocrisy is pointed out to them. . .

I think that I will make that UNITARIAN BULLYING SUCKS U*U picket sign since it is shorter than your suggestion and references the Robin Edgar Sucks blog which serves as a fine example of U*U bullying in light of just how much slanderous and libelous lies, and other misinformation and disinformation it spreads.

Question for you, Robin...

I am a CLF member. Given that I was publically insulted by a Unitarian person who attends a local UU church in my city, on Facebook, earlier this week, would you suggest I contact the minister of the church and tell her what has gone on?

This is not the first time this member has treated another Unitarian in a disrespectful, condescending, bullying way.

I am considering emailing Rev. K and having her call me so I can talk to her about this person.

Since you've been through this, please advise.

I do have screenshots of the entire Facebook conversation that led to the insult being delivered to me.

There is a meeting coming up on Sunday of the group we were involved with, with this person, that my partner will be going to; he will expect an apology from the offending member at that time. If no apology is forthcoming, we will just withdraw, at least from that group.

Have you privately shared your concerns (as it were) about the public insult/defamation with the person who insulted you FUUW? It might be an advisable first step towards resolving the conflict to do this before approaching your minister. That being said I think that it is perfectly reasonable for you to share your concerns about this person's disrespectful and bullying behavior in any case since, if it is not addressed, this person will likely go on to insult and bully others. Feel free to contact me privately by email about this. I will keep your emails confidential.

OK FUUW,

AFA*I*AC The person who insulted you is seeking to avoid personal responsibility for their words/actions in demanding that you no longer speak to them. This is all too typical of the abusive U*Us I have the misfortune to know. Knowing that is their attitude I would say that you should bring the matter up with your minister and possibly the Board of the church in question.

Spoke to the minister. She thinks his statement was mild compared to some of the "inflammatory speech" I have used in the past, like on Facebook. So...no dice.

Sorry to waste your time.
