UUMA Guidelines And Former UUA President Rev. Bill Sinkford's Minimization Of Unitarian Universalist Clergy Sexual Misconduct That Includes Child Sex Abuse - What's The Connection?

The Guidelines of the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association say:

When speaking to or about a colleague in any venue or media, public or private, I will do so respectfully. There are times when it is necessary in the service of the greater good to name a colleague’s problematic behavior, whether related to misconduct, malpractice or incompetence. In naming such behavior, I will speak honestly but not unkindly, and I will use descriptive rather than judgmental language. This means I will describe the behavior and its impact, and not engage in name-calling.

The last time I checked. . . The Emerson Avenger is not a colleague of former UUA President Rev. Bill Sinkford, so while The Emerson Avenger strives to speak honestly about Rev. William G. Sinkford's past, and apparently ongoing. . . complicity in Unitarian Universalist clergy sex abuse cover-up and denial, he reserves the right to use
judgmental language, and even engage in name-calling. In fact, The Emerson Avenger described Rev. Bill Sinkford as a "goddamned liar" while protesting his minimization of Unitarian Universalist clergy sexual misconduct that includes, but is by no means limited to. . . "such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape" committed by "certain Unitarian Universalist ministers" last U*U Sunday.

Unitarian Universalist ministers "accept a proactive obligation to address behavior in violation of this code of conduct, especially when not addressing it might allow additional harm to occur.

If a U*U minister feels "able to speak directly to the colleague with whom (they) have concerns, (they) will do so."

So The Emerson Avenger hereby encourages
former UUA President Rev. William G. Sinkford "colleagues" in Unitarian Universalist ministry, who feel able to do so. . . to share their concerns about him very publicly lying about clergy sexual misconduct committed by more than a "few" Unitarian Universalist ministers on the First Unitarian Portland web site.

The Emerson Avenger encourages those Unitarian Universalist minister who do not feel able to address Rev. Bill Sinkford directly, to contact a Good Offices Person (GOP) to create a process for addressing their concern(s) about his immoral, UNethical, and quite frankly #BatShitCrazy minimization of U*U clergy sexual misconduct that includes, but is FAR from limited to. . . Rev. Mack Wallace Mitchell's trafficking aka kidnapping a vulnerable teenage Tibetan refugee so she could serve as his sex slave for years.

The Emerson Avenger hereby reminds ALL Unitarian Universalist ministers that:

The importance of identifying and addressing ministerial misconduct (as defined in this Code) and the resulting harm to individuals, colleagues, congregations, and agencies or enterprises, takes priority over expectations of collegial confidentiality.

The Emerson Avenger reminds ALL UUA clergy that "these Expectations of Conduct apply to ALL forms of public or private media including electronic and internet communications."

The Emerson Avenger asks ALL UUA clergy, do the following words of former UUA President Rev. Bill Sinkford "reflect honesty, forthright love, leadership, and service"?

"Few UU ministers have been accused of sexual misconduct, but enough have to make righteousness impossible to claim. One UU minister was convicted of child sexual abuse just a few years ago. Only one, but still…"

Are the above words of former UUA President Rev. William G. Sinkford in keeping with the tradition of intellectual freedom in the pulpit and the pew, and Unitarian Universalist ministers preaching and teaching "the truth as they see it without fear", and with "openness to new understanding"?

Do these "less than honest" and highly questionable words of former UUA President Rev. Bill Sinkford "bear witness to the realities of the U*U World, the ideals of the common good, and the power of people for love and change, endurance and delight"?

Do those very public words of former UUA President Rev. Bill Sinkford seek to embody the following values U*U ministers pretend to uphold?
  • Integrity
  • Honesty
  • Trustworthiness
  • Compassion
  • Respect
  • Caring/ Loving
  • Honoring
  • Bringing people together
  • Using our power constructively, mindful of our potential to unconsciously perpetuate systems of oppression
  • Justice seeking
  • Bearing witness to reality
  • Refraining from abuse or exploitation
  • Providing leadership
  • Being of service
  • Being open to new understanding

The Emerson Avenger thinks NOT. . .
