Thirty Days Of Love 2014 And UU Clergy Abuse Victims - What's The Connection?

How about this comment that I just submitted in response to a blog post by the Standing on the Side of Love Campaign's Program Assistant Meredith Lukow announcing the Third Annual Thirty Days Of Love from from January 18 through February 16, 2014?

"How about if during this time, UU folks all across the country (and even the UU World!) spread love and justice for UU clergy abuse victims in truly inspiring ways?"

I mean what better time for Unitarian Universalists to commit to a period of intentional action, service, education, and reflection about UU clergy misconduct aka UU clergy abuse than the Third Annual Thirty Days of Love?

Well, other than the previous two Thirty Days of Love of course. . .

Better several decades late than never eh UUs?

Week One UUs can kick off the week with MLK Day and set aside time for congregational self-examination and reflection about The White Niggers Of The UU World aka UU clergy abuse victims.

Look for resources on furthering your restorative justice work.

Week Two: Sharing UU Clergy Abuse Stories

Sunday, Jan. 26: Suggested worship service themes *could* include exploring your UU community’s “Story of Self, Us, & Now” and using stories about UU clergy abuse to make the invisible visible.

What to Expect: Resources for telling your own congregations story as well as stories from past and present Transcendentalist Super Heroes. Help UUs envision what their UU clergy abuse stories will be in the future and how UUs can get to that place.

Week Three: Building Bridges of Love For UU Clergy Abuse Victims

Sunday, Feb. 2: Suggested worship service themes include “where is your radical love and restorative justice for ALL UU clergy misconduct victims?” TEA encourages UUs to give out Courageous Justice Awards and focus on the idea of radical Truth telling.

What to Expect: A chance for UUs to reach out past walls, barriers, or borders and engage in places UUs don’t usually go. . .

Week Four: Pause, Reflect, Celebrate!

Sunday, Feb. 9: Celebrate love – what justice victories does your UU community have to offer UU clergy abuse victims this year? This could be anything from a new anti-anal impalement "guideline" in the UUMA Guidelines to an emerging partnership with UU Safety Net (to say nothing of The Emerson Avenger himself) to the opening of a new UU Clergy Abuse Heritage And Vision Center.

What to Expect: Since our protest campaign kicked off in 1998, we have helped expose UU clergy abuse in 53 states* and DC. These are HUGE victories! Plus, the U*U Jihad Navy turns nine years old in 2014. Look for inspiration from Peacebang aka Rev. Dr. Vicki The Impaler on lifting up *these* Big Fat U*U Milestones in your community.

On February 16, we invite you to end the Thirty Days of Love with Share the Love With UU Clergy Abuse Victims Sunday, a chance for your congregation to give back and help initiate currently non-existent UUA restorative justice work.

We hope that UUs will start to think about how UUs can lift up these weekly themes in your UUA congregation or community. Over the course of the next several months, we will be sharing more information on our plans for the third annual Thirty Days of Love For UU Clergy Abuse Victims. Bookmark our Thirty Days 2014 webpage today so you will always have the most current resources at your fingertips!

I can’t wait to embark on this spiritual journey for restorative justice with UUs.

In faith,

Robin Edgar aka The Emerson Avenger
