The Ministerial Fellowship Committee Rules aka MFC Rules Are In Need Of A Major Overhaul
But don't take my word for it U*Us.
Take the word of representatives of the UUA's very aptly named Ministerial Fellowship Committee itself, as stated in the MFC's own official report to UUA Trustees during the October 2006 UUA Board Of Trustees meeting(s) well over four years ago. . .
At least in-so-far as was reported by UU clergy misconduct victims' advocate uugrrl in the 'Do or Do Not: a Chronology of UUs Addressing Clergy Misconduct'* post of her 'Speaking Truth To Power' blog, as archived on the UU Safety Net website -
Oct. 2006: The MFC Report to the Board said it “met … with UUA attorney, Kay Hodge, and Beth Miller, the new Director of the MPL, to talk about a number of on-going complaint cases and MFC rules and policies in responding to them. It was agreed that a major overhaul of MFC rules is needed.”
The MFC Report to the Board in question here *was* originally posted to the following URL on the UUA website and linked to in the aforementioned blog post but it seems to have been "memory holed" by the UUA -
http://www.uua.org/TRUS/oct06/C6-MFC.pdf
I can't help but notice that the vast majority of the the online UUA documents that were linked to in this blog post about the UUA's are no longer available to be viewed at the URLs originally linked to.
I did manage to find the UUA's 'Resolution Toward Safe Congregations and Right Relations' at this new URL -
http://www.uua.org/socialjustice/socialjustice/statements/14255.shtml
Restorative Justice for All - Unitarian Universalists Responding to Clergy Sexual Misconduct remains at the original URL.
Here is a new UUA website location for the Safe Congregation Handbook which would appear to make most if not all of its text available online free of charge.
More later. . .
* A blog post that might have been more realistically titled:
'Do or Do Not: a Chronology of UUs Miserably Failing To Adequately Address Clergy Misconduct'
