No News Is NOT Good News For U*Us aka Yet Another Year Of Unitarian Universalism Being A Tiny Declining Fringe Religion. . .
I once protested in front of Montreal's 'The Gazette' with a picket sign that said -
A PAPER WHERE NO NEWS IS BAD NEWS
as a result of The Gazette's failure, and indeed refusal, to publish a variety of newsworthy stories, but *that* is not what this particular TEA blog post is about.
Rev. Scott Wells has posted a 'Boy In The Bands' blog post titled -
New congregation news within the UUA
which says -
Looking back over the last six months of UUA Board of Trustees minutes, I've found one congregational admission (45 members) and one merger (24 members), meaning no net change. That's not good news for the association. . .
end quote*
It will be interesting to see just how many Unitarian Universalist congregations, and individual "card carrying" members in The U*U Movement, there are left in the so-called UU World when the UUA's annual "census" of Unitarian Universalists becomes official in early February, 2012, but it is not looking too promising at the moment and I am betting that Unitarian Universalism will prove to be an even tinier, declinier, and possibly even fringier. . . "fringe religion" than it was back in 2008 when Rev. Peter Morales whined about how tired he was of Unitarian Universalism being "a tiny, declining, fringe religion" in his "stump speech" announcing his candidacy for UUA President.
* Although there *is* a little bit more said by Rev. Scott Wells where that quote came from.
