Waging Peace Or Waging Hypocrisy?

Well, what with it being Remembrance Day aka Veteran's Day weekend and all, the title of today's sermon delivered at the Unitarian Church of Montreal by it's new settled minister Rev. Diane Rollert was 'Waging Peace: A Service in Honour of Remembrance Day'. Well I've seen how U*Us "wage peace" for the last decade or so and I can tell you that it ain't pretty. . . I look forward to seeing a copy of Rev. Rollert's sermon one of these days so I can see all the fine ideals and principles that it propounds on that Montreal Unitarians have obstinately refused to put into practice for over a decade now when it comes to "waging peace" in an effort to bring our ongoing war of words to a just and equtiable conclusion. . .

Hostility and even hatred was quite visible in the eyes and faces of some of the Montreal U*Us who trudged past my picket signs today. Of course others were quite cheerful and cordial in their own DIM Thinking way of Denying, Ignoring and Minimizing the obvious injustices, abuses and hypocrisy that I have been protesting against for several years now. Apparently some Montreal U*Us believe that if they cheerfully greet me on their way into church that all is right with the U*U World.

A father escorting his young son into the Unitarian Church of Montreal was asked by his child what my picket sign slogans said. His son pointed at a picket sign slogan that said - "CHURCH" OF TOUGH LOVE - and his father told him that it said - WE LOVE OUR CHURCH. His son then pointed at another sign that said- UNE EGLISE QUI N'EST PAS TRES CATHOLIQUE - and asked what that one meant. His father told him that it said - WE LOVE EVERYONE. How many other lies have U*U parents told their gullible children about my ongoing protest activity? How will they feel when they learn the truth and that their parents lied to them about my protest against U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy?

I well remember when the Unitarian Church of Montreal sent out its deeply misguided 'Positive Picketing Committee' in a counter-protest that lasted several months that it enlisted very young children to carry some of their "positive" picket signs. Did these children have any idea what they were doing and how they were being exploited by the adult church members to perpetuate U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy? Not very likely is it?

Montreal Unitarians have repeatedly demonstrated via their words and actions that they are much more interested in waging war with me than with genuinely waging peace. If Montreal Unitarians want to wage peace they are going to have to learn to wage genuine justice, equity and compassion in their human relations with me. This is something that they have abjectly failed, and even have obstinately refused, to do for over a decade now. . .

On a more positive note Montreal police passed by the Unitarian Church of Montreal as I was protesting today and didn't even bother stopping which means that they probably have once again figured out that most if not all of the numerous complaints that Montreal Unitarians call in about me are totally spurious. I must get around to filing a complaint with the Police Ethics Commission about the seizure and destruction of my picket signs by a couple of over-zealous Montreal police officers just over a year ago. I had meant to do it soon after the event took place but things got in the way. I may even try filing a complaint with the Quebec Human Rights Commission over that misguided attempt to suppress of my Charter guaranteed right to peaceful public protest.
