Will The Standing On The Side Of Love Campaign And Rev. Bill Sinkford Stand On The Side Of Love For Marzieh Amirizadehand And Maryam Rustampoor?

It has just come to my attention, as a result of reading Chicago Unitarian*Universalist Bill Baar's Pfarrer Streccius blog, that two Iranian women who converted from Islam to Christianity ten years ago have been arrested and imprisoned in Iran's notorious Evin prison. As if this was not bad enough there are disturbing reports that these two Iranian women may be executed for apostasy which is considered to be a crime in Iran and elsewhere in the Muslim world. In light of the fact that UUA President Bill Sinkford and other UUA representatives, including Adam Gerhardstein, met with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and a delegation from Iran last fall and asked -

"Is Iran moving towards allowing its citizens more freedom of choice and affiliation?"

"Are protections being created for citizens who identify with different political parties, religious beliefs, and sexual orientations?"

I believe that the UUA and the Standing On The Side Of Love campaign have a moral obligation to stand on the side of love for Marzieh Amirizadehand Maryam Rustampoor who were both arrested in March. I hereby call upon foprmer UUA President Bill Sinkford, the UUA, and the Standing On The Side Of Love campaign to do everything in their power and influence to secure the freedom of Marzieh Amirizadehand and Maryam Rustampoor and to ensure that their right to remain Christians is protected.

Due to character limits I have posted this Reader's Digest version of the above blog post to the Just Fans section of the UUA's Standing On The Side Of Love campaign FaceBook website -
