French Philosopher Blaise Pascal's Pensées aka Thoughts On Religious Conviction Joyfully Taken To Extreme Prejudice. . .

"Les hommes ne font jamais le mal si complètement et joyeusement
que lorsqu’ils le font par conviction religieuse."

Blaise Pascal, philosophe français, (1623-1662)

"Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully
as when they do it from religious conviction."

More literally -

"Men never do evil so completely and joyfully
as when they do it from religious conviction."

Blaise Pascal, French philosopher, (1623-1662)

Forgive me for saying so ATOM but your comment is full of shit, to use your own crude terminology. . .

You are especially full of shit when you ass*ert -

"infact there is no part that religion promotes violence"

May I suggest that you read the Bible, Q'ran, and various other religious scriptures which clearly and unequivocally promote violence in diverse parts of these so-called "Holy Books" and then come back here and *pretend* that no part of religion promotes violence?

French philosopher Blaise Pascal's famous quotation reproduced here is very well founded in the readily provable fact that Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and many other religions have compelled men to engage in various kinds of violence in order to win the favor of God. The "Holy Bible" contains numerous passages in which God commands people to commit violence and atrocities, some of which meet today's criteria for war crimes and genocide.

Indeed, however what happened on September 11th 2001 aligns all too well with, and serves to illustrate, this cautionary Blaise Pascal quotation.
