A Canadian Unitarian Universalist Codger aka CU*UC Misses Mary Bennett’s U*U. . .
Butt don't take *my* word for it U*Us, take retired U*U minister J. McRee (Mac) Elrod's word for it, as expressed in his letter to the editor published in the Spring 2011 edition of the official newsletter of the Canadian Unitarian Council “The Canadian Unitarian” -
In reading a recent issue of “The Canadian Unitarian”, the prevalence of “UU” made me check to be certain I was reading a publication of the CUC, and not the UUA. I miss Mary Bennett’s “U*U”, which reflects our diversity and Canadian distinctiveness. The use of “UU” emphasizes our continental connection, at the expense of our historical and world connections. Could we please continue the use of “U*U”?

In light of the fact that it was only in late 2003, less than a decade ago, that Canadian Unitarian Council Executive Director Mary Bennett so U*Unilaterally chose the Big Fat U*U Fate of inserting famous U*U Kurt Vonnegut Jr.'s "picture of an asshole" between the two Us of what *was* The UU Movement, I fail to see how the removal of Kurt Vonnegut Jr.'s "picture of an asshole" from the corporate identity of what is *now* The U*U Movement comes "at the expense of" the "historical and world connections" of the Canadian Unitarian Council or Canadian Unitarian Universalists more generally.
Why do some famous words of famous Unitarian Charles Dickens' protagonist Oliver Twist come to mind here U*Us? :-)
